So somewhat audience related, last nights game between Easts and the Storm had an average audience of 1.7 million which is the highest for a prelim since 2014 and the highest viewership in Melbourne for RL outside of a Grand Final. Up 13% from last year's Souths/Easts prelim. Canberra/Souths had 1.57 million which was also up on last year's Friday prelim by 10%.

At the same time, the AFL grand final had its lowest ratings since 2011 and 1.7 million fewer viewers than the same fixture last year and less than 1 million viewers in Melbourne.

Current projections have Origin #1 winning the national ratings battle, but these numbers are a huge win for RL as it is likely all 3 Origins and next weeks Grand Final will outmatch their biggest competitor.

The only problem is that Melbourne wont be in the GF so that will affect the Melbourne numbers for next week.
Ideally you would want a Melbourne Vs Brisbane GF to maximise your TV audience

If you remember the last minute of 2016 when Chambers f**king threw the premiership away by not passing to Cronk?
I was at the opposite end of the ground for that play behind the posts so you would have had a much better view. Had a great view of Fifita crashing over though.

Yeah just happy to be there. Could be another 25 years before we make it again.

I don’t recall struggling to see the action
Hard to see when you have your eyes closed though

Heart attack stuff.

Funniest thing I saw was a guy at the 2005 GF, we were high up on level 6 and watched him come back from the bar with 4 beers, sat in a chair at the bottom and drank one, continued up halfway and found another chair and drank another one and then continued onto his seat. Poor bugger looked exhausted (he was a large fella) when he got to the top and he got a round of applause from the people around us.
The one big improvement they can make is have Toilet/Bar/Food facilities on level 6.

Much prefer this view compared to sitting in the corner of the ANZ lower tier. Nothing more frustrating than not being able to see half the field (other corner) and having to watch half the game on the big screen. My god ANZ is shit

Agree, hopefully this will get done in the upgrade

The flipside of that is that the Canberra/Souths game outdrew last years Melbourne/Cronulla prelim. Don't underestimate Canberra's support in country NSW and also country QLD. I was shocked earlier in the year when I was working in Townsville that the Raiders were probably the second or third most supported team out there (the other big one was Dragons).

I sat as far back as one can sit in 2010.

It is a long way back but you can also see the full field including side lines.

Sat in 632 for the 2000 GF and that was as far away as possible but as you say you’ could see the full field and sidelines. Would I sit there again though? NO.
