I don't think he is. I think the stats and footage we've all been able to see proves that.

Time will tell. It will be a brave coach who decides to move him from the 7.
And if you get your hand off it, you will see that Nathan has achieved a lot, and I mean a lot.

Hook wasn't coach when we had no idea how to score v Newcastle.
Yet we knew how to score against Storm, Warriors and Sharks in the last 3 weeks. Knights was only 2 weeks after Hook was sacked.

Nathan Cleary personally had a try assist against both Storm and Warriors.. and scored a try against Sharks.

But that's still ignoring the fact one match Hook is our coach. The next Ciro is. No transition period or break to adjust. We had to transition around and during matches.

You can only change so much in a short amount of time. The biggest change being our kicking game. Cleary forced 2 drop outs in 11 games under Hook. He forced 5 in 6 games under Ciro. Without having time to focus on evolving it.

I honestly believe if Hook was still the coach, then Nathan wouldn't have re-signed.

Maloney played those other games though.

Not harsh at all.

His opinion is backed up by the majority of the last 2 years. While my personal opinion is that it was Griffin being an authoritarian and a coach with overly simple gameplans I think it's fair that @herbert henry1908 thinks that way about Cleary's game. It's not a completely rediculous view. We will see if there is a difference now that the team gets a pre-season without Griffin.

And so is mine. Nathan has lead the Panthers to three semi final appearances. He debuted at 18 and he made his origin debut at the age of 20. Maloney is hindering him. Now I am out of here.

That and Nathan's achievements are not in question.

So is there any free agents out there or realistic targets people would like signed?

I think we still need a bit of cover in the 3/4's, maybe look at Aaron Gray or Kane Linnett or someone similar. I think Franklin might have mentioned Baptiste, that wouldn't be a bad pick up IMO. May be out of our price range & not sure how gettable he is but I'd love to try & get Ben Murdoch Masila back from England & play him as a roaming prop ala Fifita.

Poor coaching, A revolving door of halves partners, Age for whatever reason he has been solid without being outstanding. All of those will take 2-3 seasons to fix.

If he has been coached out of playing footy. Needs games to fix it. Luai and him will take time to get a partnership going. I don't see the arrogance in him yet needed to dominate teams.

I think waiting another 3 seasons for him really to step up is giving him way too much latitude. Really good players overcome adversity, and the adversity you’re talking about is pretty minor.
