Yeah I know what gardening leave is thanks mate.

We were talking to Cleary before we even sacked Griffin, he was fully entitled to get a payout, for BxTom to say "he got a pay out covering 2019/2020 which is quite likely barring him from coaching NRL" is ridiculous. Why is it likely? What is that based on? His own opinion that Hook is a decent coach and would get re-hired if he was allowe to apply for jobs? There is nothing that makes that statement likely or logical. Its dumb as f**k.

He makes some bullshit claim and then puts it on me to disprove it, the clown.
We sacked him, he gets a payout without any clauses barring he get another job, you are the one talking out of your ass.

No, its too stupid to even consider anymore.

I never said he was a decent coach
I never said he would be re-hired.

There is no way he is prevented from taking another job, you’re full of shit.

And I never said he was definitely barred from NRL.
Hook has a job with rugby and as I pointed out, he got a pay out covering 2019/2020 which is quite likely barring him from coaching NRL. Stop talking out of your butt.

You are the dick making the claims, get over your self dumb merkin.

Any more b*llsh!t and drivel coming out of your butt?

Why is likely he is barred from NRL jobs? What made you think that is likely? You cannot sack someone then bar them from getting another job, as MrBlack said that is pretty much illegal which is why I treated your original claim that he is likely barred with the derision that it deserved you moron.

Normally though (under IR law) - if you part ways with a company they cannot stop you from going to a competitor and doing what your normal job is.
There are situations where a business parting company with an employee wouldn't want the employee taking trade secrets to a competitor, but that would cost extra on top of the payout, and not really sure how that would apply in this case. My feeling, and its only a feeling, is that Hook is not coaching in the NRL either because no-one wants him, or he doesn't want to, quite possibly both.

Did someone really just say 'Gus isn't the type of guy'... really?

You think Gus would put a stop to Hook seeking employment elsewhere? What makes you think that?
Gus went into bat for Hook, but he was out numbered and the board had lost faith in Hook. It sounds like the players were also happy to see the back of him.

I think your just jumping on the “Gus is a bastard” bandwagon.

You cant stop them working for a competitor. However - they are not allowed to take Intellectual Property with them, ie trade secrets, customer lists and prices etc. You can leave KFC to work for Red Rooster, but you cant rock up with the 11 secret herbs and spices recipe. But now I am way off topic.

I definitely agree with part 2 of your comment - no-one wants him or he is happy to sit out for a while.

Barrets situation is way different - Manly refused to let him go unless he quit. They kept paying him a salary.

Did you see the interview he did on channel 9? That should answer the question.

Gus is also on the wrong side of public opinion re; sacking hook (outside this form), so if hook was to go elsewhere & succeed (not saying he would) he'd look like a right idiot.

Doesn't Holmes need to play with the Sharks if he comesback?

Happens with players why not coaches? Coaches have the best Intel on the players afterall.

Though that said. $1m payout from us. $200k or so coaching RU... Who is to say he even wants to coach elsewhere

This has never really been tested in the past..... (maybe with Hayne and Parra??)

If (when more likely) he comes back he will probably want to go to the Cowboys. Cronulla are unlikely to hold $1m or so on their salary cap on the off chance Valantine decides he wants back in.

Holmes didn’t get fired, he quit. Hook got fired. That’s a huge difference.

I can’t believe this is still being tossed around.

SBW had to get a transfer fee to go to Roosters didn't

Very hard to not be on the wrong side of public opinion when the biggest media outlet in Australia is literally using North Korea propaganda tactics to appease their viewer base comprised of 40 something year old tradies because they want confirmation bias that Gus "is a f**kn biasd dog dat neva tipsh me teem in da footie".
