Offer James Segeyaro his spot in our top 30.
Doubt the club would do that unless they think the likes of Brian Too can fill in on the wing if needed, since Phillips was probably behind MWZ. Although I do tend to agree that at a cheap cost, Segs would be a great pick up but I feel like the club is committed to Egan/Katoa.

From left field - -

We could do worse than offer the top 30 spot to Alex Glenn.

He is on the outer at the Broncos and they will probably pay part of his freight.

Would be a good bench forward for us.

Didn't Seibold come out and quash that rumour?

The likelihood IC will make any changes in the first ten rounds would be one fifteenths of f**k all.

I'd give it ten rounds before we see any drastic changes in personal, if any.

Brian Too is one of our development squad players and not available for selection until mid-season

Otherwise it would be interesting to see if he could get a run ahead of MWZ.

Aekins is behind DWZ for a run at fullback. Which means a wing spot becomes available and until mid-season MWZ would be the preferred backup winger.

Unfortunately our starting 13 (aside from hooker) picks itself and no coach is going to be quick to drop anyone. But at some point Brian Too will be an obviously better option than Josh Mansour. Like DWZ in 2014, I think he will come in and be a permanent fixture when he does.

Phillips gone. May unavailable..Too could play if we picked him.

If Aekins develops ball playing then I'd play him over DWZ. (He put a great kick in for MWZ on the weekend)

I am a Whare fan but him going with DWZ to centre makes us stronger. It won't be long before the same is the case for Mansour

Which of our players have improved since last year?

Edwards - definitely not.
Mansour - no.
Whare - same as last year.
Blake - same as last year.
DWZ - Good same as last year.
Maloney - same as last year.
Cleary - same as last year.
Tamou - Good same as last year.
Katoa - same as last year.
RCG - definitely not.
Winterstein - New.
Yeo - Not as good.
JFH - Has improved.

Kikau - Good same as last year.
Egan - No
Leota - No
Sele - New but shows promise.

So from this we have 4 good players. DWZ, Tamou, JFH and Kikau.
Several others similar to last year.
6 players worse.
So is the problem the players, their training or their coaching.

Good idea Thirsty Panther and I'll join in for the fun of it.

Edwards - No.Slower, less fit and error prone, probably because of lack of fitness.
Mansour - No.Looking slower and timid under a high ball.
Whare - No.
Blake - No. Not fit and looking slower.
DWZ - Same as last year.
Maloney - Same as last year. but better than how he finished the season. BTW, leads NRL in getting repeat sets and is 3rd for engaging the line.
Cleary - Same as last year, after allowing for recovery from injury.
Tamou - Better than last year. Looks stronger somehow.
Katoa - Better than last year.
RCG - No.
Winterstein - New.
Yeo - No. Not as fit and dynamic.
JFH - Has improved. God only knows how. Everybody else looks less fit than last year. This blokes like a dynamo. He tops the NRL in decoy runs. 5th highest tackles.

Kikau - At this stage, worst than last year, but he is still recovering from injury.
Egan - Same
Leota - Same
Sele - New but shows promise.

I think the genius who decided to sack the fitness and conditioning staff needs an uppercut. Overall the team are nowhere near as fit and conditioned. This is reflected in the errors and missed tackles we make.

The top two missed tacklers in the NRL are JFH and James Maloney. Fitness has a part to play with that, although JFH at least makes a huge number of tackles. We have 5 players in the top 50 NRL missed tacklers. Katoa, RCG and Cleary being the other three.

We have two players in the top ten for errors (Edwards and Mansour). Blake, Cleary and Maloney also make the top 50.

There were interrupted off-seasons for a few players and they have struggled to get up to speed. But we look slow, unfit and a bit clumsy as though we only started ball work this week.

Look at these stats:
Missed tackles: 1st highest
Penalties conceded: 4th highest
Possession rate: 16th
Errors: 1st highest
Run Metres: 16th
Tackles breaks: 14th
Supports: 11th
Linebreaks: 15th
Offloads: 15th

I haven't put any of our good ones and there are a few, but the overall picture is regression. It stands to reason the players must have gone backwards or we wouldn't have stats like that.

Frankly, our start to the season has been disastrous. Losing is acceptable if the effort and skill is there. My eyes and these stats say neither of those have been present and we are a rabble.
