I still can’t get over the fact we’ve given Ivan Cleary a 5 year deal, it’s really quite incredible. I think it’s fair to categorise it as gross mismanagement.

We’d just paid out a coach for 2 years+ of his contract and then we go and do this?!

The members need to come together and remove the board, particularly Dave O’Neill.

When is the AGM?

I’d also be interested in reading the Club’s constitution. Does anyone know where it can be found? It may even be possible for Members to call an EGM if enough of them can get together.

The AGM was held about a month ago.

You can get a copy of the constitution here:
https://www.panthers.com.au/group-corporate/corporate/constitution/

You will see the 2 Constitutions there to be downloaded. Most people on here would know little about the governance of our club - why there might be 2 constitutions. Even what PDRLFC and PRLC mean might elude many here. The more people who know - even a little bit - the better. I hope you enjoy the journey.

EGM's can be called by members.

Sorry yes I meant Rabbitohs. Put off by the fact that the Roosters play tonight. I don’t see us beating the Rabbitohs.

Rabbitohs were bang average, but given Bennett has come out & given a spray about ruck speed or lack thereof, you can bet your life it’ll be like touch football on Friday night which will hugely benefit the Rabbitohs.

They've had a few games where they've looked ordinary. Yesterday and the Titans games springs to mind. Like a lot of good teams they find a way to win when this happens. Given we're finding ways to lose when looking good this doesn't fill me with confidence.

If they're on and get the rub of the green (or the whistle) then heaven help us.

We'll have trouble securing a fair share of the ball against them, put it that way.
The 2 teams i fear are the ones who played tonight storm and roosters
This game was the closest thing I've seen to WWE on a football field, except for maybe a couple of recent Broncos-Cowboys games.

If the Rabbits has lost against the Dogs, I wouldn't have given us a chance due to the inevitable response, but we are in with a shot now.

I am not so sure we need to make wholesale changes to our roster. I am just not convinced we are getting the potential out of most out of the players.

Whare doesn’t offer us much in attack these days because he has lost a yard of pace after his ACL injury, but defensively he is outstanding. He is very good at making the correct read time and time again. We rarely ever concede a try down his side where he is responsible for a miss or a bad read. He knows when to come in and when to stay on his man, and is excellent at stopping players much larger than him. If we replace him for a youngster we might make our defensive problems worse. Until such time as we have someone in reserves or under 20s who is plainly deserving of a first grade spot in his place I’d be keeping him. Hopefully we have the replacement by the time his contract expires.

RCG is more of enigma. We have seen what he is capable of. His problem is consistency. Perhaps his jaw injuries affected his confidence. He is also down on fitness. Those things are solveable. For mine the burden falls on Cleary to fix those issues.

DWZ is a good fullback. He did something very stupid yesterday, but I think we all forget that, despite how many games he has played, he is only 23.

On the whole our squad has changed a little from last year, what has changed is our coach. If at the end of the year we have regressed significantly without any major injuries and the same group of players then it is difficult to blame anyone else for that result than the coach.

For me.

Can't keep both hookers one must go.

Whare gone.

Maloney should go wasting cap space keeping Luai in waiting.

If Edwards isn't going to play fullback he should go.

That frees up cap space to bring in quality players.

RCG a good stint in NSW Cup. Moving Mansour to the backrow

Too me would see us in a better place roster wise. Then can move on Ivan if still bad

Phil Gould was right to sack Ivan Cleary the first time, he was wrong to install Anthony Griffin as his replacement. At least he realised the error. We will rue this period in the clubs history as a significant missed opportunity. All that hard work lost.

Did he realise his error? Was still no interview process or potential coaches interviewed. That was the issue I had with Griffin being hired. No guarantee hook doesn't still get it but atleast it is done right

McGrady will be next year, he’s only played QLD cup so needs fitness and confidence in his knee, Whare should be shopped to England, Edwards I’d tap on the shoulder and say thanks for coming, exit is that way, Aekins would be my 1st choice fullback, DWZ told wing only or you can move on, Mansour shopped to England, RCG shopped to England, right now I’d promote Naden to the full time squad and play him on the wing or the centres, Jed I’d let him join his dad at manly and upgrade Bloor to the full time squad, not renew Katoa and work on making Dean Bloor our backup hooker

I agree Blore should be made a hooker. I'd have Too and Johns over Naden atm.

As for McGrady. This year is a write off get him and the Flegg boys in to NSW Cup ready for next year

There are two clubs. A Leagues club, which is a licenced club with entertainment and poker machines and is dedicated firstly to making a profit and secondly to the furthering of Rugby League in its area and which presumably makes money hand over fist, and a football club which is concerned with running several RL teams and overseeing a junior league, and which requires pecuniary assistance from the Leagues club to remain afloat. Am I close?

EGM's can be called by members.

Thanks for that. I would have thought that as a member I would have received noticed of the AGM and the Agenda, but I didn't receive anything (nor was I notified last year). Did everyone else get notified?

How is it a write-off?

We were sitting on 2 wins from 6 games in 2016 and 2017. Shit in 2017 it was 2 wins from 9 games.

Last year was literally the only time we had a good start to the season in Hooks time here and we ran out of steam as the Origin period hit. There's alot of footy left. Injuries. Origin. Form spirals etc. There will be many twists to come. Not necessarily for us. But its not over yet.

No nothing from the club. The only emails I get are merchandise sales which lately have been coming a day after a loss.

We are a ramble. We will win 8-10 games so won't come last but this was the easy part of the draw and we blew it

So far we are no worse than 2017. Managing only to beat 14th and 16th place.

Honestly. People have very short memories as to just how bad we were those opening 9 games of 2017.

Even when we turned our season around in Rounds 10 and 11. We had to mount huge comebacks to do so. While its not a good start to the year... its still not the worst position we have been in recently. Not yet atleast

How odd. Glad I am not the only one. I wonder what is going on? I would have thought as members there would be an obligation for us to be notified. I wonder how many people even turn up and vote at these AGMs. It might be the case that Dave is elected on the back of a handful of votes from those few people who turn up because they somehow know that it is on.

We had depth then. Don't now as injuries hit we will get weaker

Example lets look at the left centre options this week

Jed- 0 FG games. Being mostly backrow in NSW Cup.

Fuimaono- again mostly backrow borderline 1st grade

Yeo- been in middle or the right. Who plugs that hole if we move him. Ordinary centre too

Whare's injury looks like a 4 week one.

We play Souffs. Gagai- test and origin centre.

Canberra have that awesome right side or Rapana/Leilua

Tigers- should still have them covered

Then Warriors with their awesome backline

Maybe we get 2 of those. Still play Roosters twice. Canberra and Souffs again we prob jag a few 50/50 games too

I’m as disappointed by our performance like the rest of you but there was a bit of improvement over the last performances. If we improve our fitness and get a roll on many things can change quickly.

It is a boys club. Stuff is kept quiet so they can keep their roles easier
