When you lose a whole pack from top 30 the previous year your options are limited
But our cap management is terrific. Only we could lose Origin and International players and somehow stretch ghose funds to retain potential superstars.

Other clubs lose some of their young guys and are stuck with the superstars.

I don't buy all this experienced player bulls#it

Experienced players are usually either journeymen or has beens (and Merrin was quickly approaching the latter)

Our team is full of rep players that are young and fit. They can stand up to the rigors of a full season. Look at Maloney, he has a tonne of experience but couldn't sustain his ability for the full year.

Cleary has already played more rep footy and finals footy than most halves play in a full career. Ditto DWZ, RCG etc. When injury free these guys can go all day for a whole season.

Depth is our only problem, but I am sick of having depth, It just means your trophy cabinet is full of NSW Cups and under 20 trophies......

When has a team won the comp with no depth?

we aren't even talking origin players. This is side of forwards we lost for various reasons since this time last year

McKendry
Wallace
Browne
CHN
Peachey
Merrin

Bryce

You can throw in Waddell that was in the FT squad last year too.

These atleast would be depth players for once injuries hit

All from their top 17. Outside that they are terrible.

I can take your point here. But I just think our team is good enough to win a comp. Now, without needing any more experienced players or depth players.

By the end of next year, if coached well enough, our spine will be the match of that roosters one.

Hooker does remain an issue, but who knows if one of them kicks on. To be honest I would like us to sign someone "like" Mitch Rein just in case.

Maybe so but the top 17 is for us is likely the least experience. See how it plays out across the comp before that is sorted

Yeah we've got less games played but they have got rep and finals experience which is the most important thing rather than just games played.

But they are all signed long term (once Luai is confirmed). We are a chance next year, but more so we are set up for long term success. If we finish outside the 8 in any of the next 5 years then heads will have to roll.

For me its all about the longer term success with a chance of winning it. We have had potential for a few years now, but from next year we should start to realize it.

I remember people saying back when we had Bryce and Moylan. Very similar things it seems to me we only look far ahead and miss what is right in front

I like a positive attitude @Matthew Ellis but Blores played a couple of games of NSW Cup, no where near ready. Not sure what poor old Moses has done to deserved to be dropped either.
I'm saying Moses would take the bench spot of Sam Mkendary when he inevitably gets named in 30 and gets injured. Cleary played one game of reserve grade before their debut. Some guys are just mentally mature and I think he's one of them.

Broncos will cop the same hammering we do should they struggle

The only hammering is from you and others on here who chose to talk us down non stop without justification.

Our depth is for the most part the envy of the league and frequently talked up by commentators, experts and other club coaches etc.

Our depth got us into the top eight last season despite a horrific injury toll throughout the season.

This year will be no different and I have no doubt the young members of our squad will improve further and be much better players in 2019.

In the past maybe so. When Top 8's an stuff are done for 2019 which is the season we are discussing we will see.

though one has dropped. Has us and Broncos low on the list

PANTHERS — E-

Forwards: Sione Katoa, Tim Grant, Kaide Ellis, Liam Martin, Tyrell Fuimaono, Isaah Yeo, Jack Hetherington, Moses Leota, James Fisher-Harris, Viliame Kikau, Nick Lui-Toso, James Tamou, Paea Pua, Wayde Egan, Reagan Campbell-Gillard

Backs: Caleb Aekins, Jed Cartwright, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Josh Mansour, Dean Whare, Dylan Edwards, Malakai Watene-Zelezniak, Tyrone May, Tyrone Phillips, Nathan Cleary, James Maloney, Waqa Blake, Jarome Luai

Incoming: Tim Grant

Best recruit: Tim Grant returns home to Penrith for his farewell season. Whether he gets much of a run or not is another question, they have no shortage of quality bookends.

What do they need?: They could use another quality centre after losing Tyrone Peachey to the Titans. Waqa Blake and Dean Whare are the two clear starters in the squad, but there’s not much depth beyond those two.

Not much mention of Kaide Ellis. 22yo 191cm 106kg Has captained ISP team I believe and can play most forward positions.

Terrific player with unlimited potential who can play big minutes. I expect him to be challenging and putting pressure on for a spot in top 17.
