QRL's annual report at https://www.qrl.com.au/contentasset...a3566c0703/qrl19_annualreport_board_final.pdf lists 17,078 Maroon members for 2019.Have the NRL released any State of Origin membership numbers?

What's your solution for somewhere like Brookvale, where it is difficult to get to without a car and even then, impossible to park?Probably why their crowds and memberships are so dire? So do you stay as is with dire crowds or get radical and do something about it? Necessity is the mother of invention, until clubs really need to change they will keep chugging along as is.

Bear in mind fans have made it clear they don't particularly want to travel to Moore Park (or ANZ)
Well doubtful you can change the parking and Manly isnt getting $200mill to upgrade the ground. So you have to change the location and your business model. Or you accept that it is going to be poor crowds and memberships for Manly forever more. So fans cant get to the ground but dont want to move either? Well maybe all of those 9k fans arent the future for Manly?
I see AFL just broke through 1million members last year. Amazing what you can do when you try.
Do we really need to *keep* comparing membership to AFL? It's so tiresome and an argument that goes nowhere. Stick to NRLI see AFL just broke through 1million members last year. Amazing what you can do when you try.

I think @Timmah is more saying that the CONSTANT comparing is boring. There are other comparisons to make, but this is used ad nauseamWhy isn’t it a fair comparison?
It’s a yardstick that the NRL & clubs should be aiming for
I think year on year growth is a more important metric than comparing to other codes, doesn't mean the NRL can't borrow some of the good ideas that have helped build their strong attendance and membership culture however. Why isn’t it a fair comparison?

I think Timmah overestimates how often it is mentioned lol. I only just saw that they broke a million members for the first time and havent seen it mentioned on here at all before.
View attachment 35908 Storms twitter says they’ve got 20k+ members
Agree to disagree. We are better off focusing on our own product and growing it. If we can parlay ideas from them, sure - but I don't see benefit in lasering in on AFL numbers v NRL numbers. For the most part they don't compare and there's little value in actually putting them against each other. Most businesses will keep an eye on their main competitor. Its not a bad gauge of how you are travelling and if you are far behind what is achievable. So yes, imo we do.
You're wrong, it is used boringly often.I think Timmah overestimates how often it is mentioned lol. I only just saw that they broke a million members for the first time and havent seen it mentioned on here at all before.
Ok... That doesn't mean it isn't over used...Like what? Both are the biggest codes in Australia. Both are close in ratings. Both get the same money from TV. It is about the closest like for like there is

FYI, I'm not saying it's something that CAN'T be compared to the NRL, what I am saying is that the comparison is OVERUSED... Well, imo, and seemingly @Timmah thinks the same.
Penrith 4th and a chance to crack 20k before the season starts. Unreal considering no finals last season or new stadium this year.
