Winning this week would be an even bigger advantage. Week off plus potentially playing at home (possibly even against Canbra)

what a load of s**t, he just coached a team to 3rd spot. There’s 13 sides worse off then us after the regular season!
Going out in straight sets wouldn’t be great, but his job is safe for next year.
And how does ikin and co not know that the dip in form was on purpose and BA may have had our boys on a larger training load to build up to finals?[/QUOTE]

I think we all know that's bullshit.

This is a really good point, and would explain the apparent lethargy from Round 13 to 17. Energy has been better the last 2 games.

ahh right, we will be at our peak on October 25

Shame we cant un-peak our errors, stupidity and average kicking game

how so?

I don’t think it’s as bad as some of you are making it out our form!
If no one knew the ladder the way some here are going, you’d think we were getting the spoon

Interesting tonight. Focus on our Eels, particularly BA. Ikin, supported by others stating the board should be asking questions about the teams form drop and an appearance of not having his team "build" towards the finals. They suggest the pressure on BA will be increased if his team dosent perform in the finals. They believe nobody rating The Eels in the finals might be a bonus for the team.

It was fair but that f**kwit, Hooper proved how clueless he is. He said that we are known for starting well and then fading out over the season......just because we did it this year doesn't make it a regular occurrence.

I'm not saying your good-natured faith, and optimism, is wrong, but..

Do you believe that the team - throughout the second half of the season - played like a team that is placed third? Or do you believe that they played like a team that at one stage was leading the competition?

It's great we found a way to win, and win ugly, despite not playing too well - but there are obvious issues in the team, that look like they still haven't been addressed.

Now, perhaps the focus hasn't been on our recent form; perhaps Arthur knows, and trusts, that come the Finals, this team will lift.

But it's purely speculative; all we, as fans, can go on is what we see on the field every week, and for two months now, the team has played very average football, and it is a little concerning.

However, the Finals are a whole new ball game, so let's see how we go.

I think and it’s been said by players and coaches that our training did change during the season. Whether it was the correct call to make or if it should’ve been on a different timeframe, we’ll find out somewhat over the next month. Whether it had any impact at all, we’ll never really know

I think we "took our foot off the pedal", in a way; we trusted that our defence would win us more games than we lost, and the games we did lose, I believe our focus was on trying to remain healthy.

But this team needs a massive shift to make any splash in the Finals.

I think we have showed patches of being the 3rd best team in the comp, which is what we are..
I also think it’s very naive to think our team can be up for 20 weeks straight, no team all year has done that... even Penrith had a couple of poor games but was helped with a very simple run home.

Start of the year most on here said it would be a successful year if we finish ahead of our 5th place finish last year, we improved by 2 more spots. About to head into yet another finals campaign (our 3rd in 4 years) and still people on here b**ch and moan.

BA is the main reason we are where we are today, without him at the club during the whole salary cap horror I don’t think we have the turn around we have had up to this point.

So I hope the deathriders (not saying you’re one) continue to bash a guy that’s just got us to 3rd in a regular season where we had a break after two rounds, and no byes... probably one of the hardest seasons to coach to date, yet BA has coached the 3rd best team in this year!

Pretty good feat if you ask me, bring on the finals! About time we get behind this team I reckon

A lot of teams have taken different mentalities this season.
Smugfers are gambling that they can ride 20 odd weeks of emotion.
Scum/Rorters have had injuries and rested players probably banking they can overwhelm teams in the finals with their experience.
Us and I think Canbra have doubled down on defence winning.
Souffs have focused on attack instead.
Every other team was battling to get wins so could never really take foot off pedal.
