2020 NRL draw re-release

Only thing I don't get if the "games only in nsw & qld" thing is true is that there are only 2 teams that can't play at home, and the NRL decided that 3 of the 4 matches involving them should be home games..

So much for this:
Melbourne expect to open the rebooted NRL season with away games and finish with a series of home matches played in front of fans, according to Storm chief executive Dave Donaghy.

"I’m accepting of the fact that probably for the first little period of time, we’ll be playing a few away games."

Donaghy said he understood that the remainder of the 2020 draw would be equalised with more home games later in the season.

“That would be my understanding, if we were playing more away games at the start there would be the opportunity to back-end some home games,”

With the AFL returning June 11, I'd assume Storm would be allowed to play in Melbourne after that date, and I've heard the govs are trying to include NZ in a "travel bubble" so theres a good chance the Warriors might soon be allowed to play at home too

I'm not advocating that the draw should of been manipulated to suit certain teams, but with only 2 teams not being able to play at home, and it being possible that those 2 teams would be able to play at home after the first 2 weeks, I would've thought it would be common sense to try work away games into the draw for them, or at least not 2 "home" games.

I know without crowds its not that big a difference, but surely there is an advantage to being able to play on the ground you train on and not have to travel. And yeah Melbourne could of based themselves closer to Sydney like the Warriors have had to do, but from that article above it seems that Donaghy was lead to believe that wouldn't be necessary due to having a bulk of away games at the start?

Say crowds are allowed in the last month. Would be unfair to have teams with no home game then anyway. Very few teams will get ‘home’ games anyway

Does seem a bit odd to give Melbourne two “home” games in Sydney, could just as easily made those Bunnies and Raiders home games, or one of them at least.

That said I’m not too fussed, Storm play well on the road, just glad we can start talking about the comp again and not iso breaches or anti-vax dipshits.

There is no home with no crowd, not fussed, more interested that they spread the games around.

A hygiene thing no doubt, much spit and nostril cleaning, then your head gets rubbed in it.

The wife hates sport for that reason, germ free lady.

I think I criticised a bulk of away then a bulk of home games as well when I posted that in another thread, thats not the right way to go, but souths, dragons, tigers, and knights all NSW teams that could have home games, got 2 away games, then the Storm who for these 2 weeks only cant play at home got 2 home games, just seems like common sense would of prevailed there, could of easily swapped the rabbits v storm game to be a souths home since it will be in Sydney anyway

So we went from round 3 at home against the Dragons, to round 3 away to the Storm.

That’s a kick in the teeth.

Easts have been robbed of the 2020 premiership.

You've heard it here and no one cares.

Home and Away won't mean much until after crowds can return due limited venues that will be used

If all NSW games are played from just a handful of grounds, "home" and "away" will be pretty irrelevant. If if it wasn't already with no crowds.

It'd be economic to set up shop (tv stuff, bubble procedures etc.) in just a few places and rotate games through those venues. But does the allocated "home" team foot the bill for ground hire and stuff? Like if Sharks v Tigers is at Kogarah who pays?

big hit!

Reality is FTA tv wants to show the clubs who get the biggest audiences. Sucks Broncos are the only club in Brisbane, but until that changes Ch9 is always going to favour them for a FTA Thurs or Fri night.

unfortunately, most folks here seem to think television just front up cash for rights + production costs out of thin air.

Yeah and rarely anyone gets a home game. I doubt even Parra will use Bankwest so venues atm don’t matter. I am just hoping to have a couple of home games in August incase fans are allowed in
