public holiday eve

EDIT: didn't see rd 3 had a sun night game too. suppose it doesn't matter considering fans can't attend.

bet it will rate well and then FOX will want to do it all every week once everything is back to normal next season, dangling the current of extra $$$ for the NRL.

then no one will go to any games.

Sunday 6pm is the slot to justify to tv the value of expansion to perth. Perfect as 3/4pm in afternoon here so fan friendly and gives Fox a live 6pm game every other week. Alternate it with warriors being at home on Friday 6pm slot and you’ve got rid of two fan unfriendly times whilst giving tv what they want.

announced today SAand WA clubs are relocating to Queensland for first rounds until SA and WA border restrictions lift.
No Jab no Play?

Darius would not play if he had to stay in a hotel for weeks.

Good for the QLD economy, they could all go play in WA, once tested.

Cheers, missed that.
Doesn't matter much anyway. Only for the sake of *some* normality
I've figured that between now and say a week away, it will become clearer on where we will all be playing. Just like everything else, we are playing it by ear.

You know what they've also done which no one has picked up on, which is clever from a 'close competition' point of view and will shut up those saying the competition points need to be wiped...

All the undefeated teams are playing each other in the first week:

Broncos vs Eels
Raiders vs Storm
Panthers vs Knights

Then in round 4 all have super tough games:

Sea Eagles vs Eels
Broncos vs Roosters
Raiders vs Knights
Storm vs Rabbitohs
Panthers vs Warriors (ok maybe not but remember Cleary is out and they'll probably lose to the Knights in Round 3 anyway)

I think they've done this so that it will be very hard to have an undefeated team by the end of round 4.

Not impossible... but it will be hard. Pretty obvious this is their tactic.

Two weeks from yesterday to go. Before you know it, it's GF week.

Such a one sided draw.
Broncos get a full 7 days off between games.
I bet they will get either Thurs or Fri games for vast majority of the season.
All other teams should inform the NRL that unless the draw is fair to all teams....no play.
Every year the same favouritism to Broncos.
They should win the comp every year with the easy 7 day rest draws they ALWAYS receive.
Then NRL would be happy.Screenshot_2020-05-15-16-54-59-85.png

Reality is FTA tv wants to show the clubs who get the biggest audiences. Sucks Broncos are the only club in Brisbane, but until that changes Ch9 is always going to favour them for a FTA Thurs or Fri night. Its no coincidence that all the FTA games feature the most popular clubs in rd3&4, ch9 needs to woe its advertisers back and what better way than getting some blockbuster ratings first two weeks?
We should have signed a TV deal with them that was reflective of their % advertising losses during NRL games at seasons end, they could end up paying us $30mill less and not lose much themselves when the TV audiences rate through the roof and bring back the advertisers.

As long as Boyd is there they won’t be winning it anyway

Canberra faves for the comp @TAB. Can't argue with that. They'll be very highly motivated after last years F/ups in the GF.

Depends on how their pommy half goes imo, Sezer is a big loss

Scott is a good replacement for BJ, as long as he doesn’t abuse cops

Did he play the 1st two rounds? (seems like an eternity ago eh?) I'll have a look at their two games again.
