If it's games here and there, no you don't. But when there is such a discernible pattern - that's when questions should be asked. Particularly when virtually all these games see a 50-50 possession split, it's unlikely that one team is so disciplined but the other isn't.

The problem is that for all your talk about momentum and creating penalties, that it doesn't fit the other stats. When you look at possession, line breaks, completion rates, missed tackles, etc. they are all generally equally split across the board. So it's not momentum creating the penalties.

It is in the games we win.

Break them down and generally you find we get gluts of penalties at certain stages, and then fade or derp back out of the ascendancy and the penalties also dry up for that time. Last night we got most of our penalties when we actually played direct and looked our best.

The one thing that does surprise me is that we don't concede one or two more a game. But it's rare we get an undeserved penalty except for things that are a lottery like the crushers last night. And that stuff is a lottery for any side.

Referee arguments are always fairly funny between fans. When it’s lop sided the team it’s against always cries foul, the team who received it says it was fair and ‘penalty counts aren’t meant to be even’

The next week the teams will be on opposing ends and use the arguement they were debating against

Certain teams fans aren’t worse then others, we’re all the same

And to be fair, taking all that out, it's the inconsistency that annoys fans. I definitely get that.

Realistically most games could have pretty much the same penalty count, it seems arbitrary the way refs focus their attention from game to game.

lolololo the two 'crushers' that Sivo dived for that were Penalised/reported have been cleared.

and a non-penalised Parra crusher has been sent to the judiciary

Just goes to show the refs don't know what to look for, and they are easily influenced.

Gee I wonder why teams are giving away penalties trying to stop the Eels go forward, but but but the refs should give my team getting steam-rolled an even number of penalties.

Parramatta's penalty counts in the last 6 games:

Round 15 v Storm (W) 8-1
Round 14 v Dragons (L) 2-4
Round 13 v Sharks (W) 7-2
Round 12 v Bulldogs (W) 8-3
Round 11 v Tigers (W) 8-2
Round 10 v Manly (L) 5-4

It's pretty funny when the penalty count is remotely close they've lost.
Yeah and if Waqa Blake knew how to pass the ball we'd be winning by even more. Swings and roundabouts.

I mean, this would make sense for set restarts rather than penalties.

But let's take a look at some other stats aside from running metres:
  • Total runs - Eels ranked first with 162 more than the second place team (Knights).
  • Parramatta lead kick return metres, which ups the total run metres. Of course, if you play in the oppositions end more you tend to get more kick return metres.
  • Parramatta lead the league in errors and 7th in completion rate.
  • Concede the 6th most linebreaks
What doesn't make sense - why they are the least penalised team? They are middle of the pack with running metres conceded, middle of the pack with missed tackles,

In fact, the penalty differential for Parramatta this season is +36. The next best are Manly and the Knights with +19, Cowboys with +12, and then it drops to +6.

It's an absolute joke.

The Eels dived, what 3 or 4 times. Still not in Ewan Aitkins league :)
But still there was many more tackles that Melb should have been penalised for.
Go figure, no rort no fairy story just protected storm

Funny how more penalties mean you can kick for penalty goal more. It certainly helps in close games.
Back when we had shit forwards we used to lose the penalty count every week. It was frustrating. It was easy to think the referees had it in for my club. Turns out they punish teams who cheat in the ruck, which are the same teams who struggle to slow the ruck legally.

The 2020 Eels are the 2014 version of Souths.

Clearly the NRLs chosen fairy tale darlings.

Just be honest about it, Eels fans.
About f**king time. Some clubs clearly have more advantages than others. If Peter V'landys is telling match officials to cheat in favour of the Eels it might start to make up for decades of our shithouse club constitution allowing the club to be run by a couple hundred leagues club members voting on a Wednesday afternoon before most of us have finished work.

We are first in the NRL for post contact metres. Daylight second.

Because we don't take risks in the ruck. Some of our fans have complained that we don't concede enough penalties near our line. The Roosters are masters of it and it hasn't hurt them. But Arthur always talks about having to improve our discipline. Or at least he did. He must be happy with our discipline now.
