The way the media are licking the panthers and Cleary's boots is pretty sickening. The post game press conference was an embarrassment to journalism. Even the questions asked to Maguire were basically, "Penrith are amazing, how good are they?"
He did just finish saying he wanted to get his team to where the Panthers currently are.

Imagine saying to a roosters fan your team has won anything..
I think you misunderstand. This group has come through all the junior grades all the way to reserve grade winning competitions. Playing finals series and even GF's will be nothing new, most likely the crowd won't even be bigger. No need to apologise, just think before you call people names.

That means diddly squat in the real world. The raiders good juniors sides led to nothing. If you think that final experience is the equal to the storm and the roosters you are insane

That remains to be seen. Your team might have a say in it too.

What was wrong with the statement? Plenty of Panthers players have won things just not NRL.

Because it means f**k all. I say this from experience. Josh Dugan was a cheat player in underage and reserve grade and he's had a good career but his dominance didn't really lead anywhere. The only thing that matters is NRL

The disagreement is when success is achieved by some clubs consistently.

With players from other clubs that struggle. Consistently.

I believe we only have one west's junior in our top 17 if that helps you sleep at night.

Decent player though.

As an aside did you know we have the same amount of juniors in our best 17 this year as Parramatta? I'm shocked too.

So you don't think the halfback that has been part of winning SOO series knows how to prepare for big games?

Tetevano, Api, Tamou have won comps. Would know how those teams prepared compared to now

Mansour, Whare, JFH played test footy. Again would see how the best prepare

A few others played PF

So there are plenty of guys to pull the young guys into line IF they are doing things like 'celebrating too much etc'

My point with winning comps was just that those guys now how to prepare to get themselves right for big games.

I'm saying junior results mean f**k all in the real world and to pretend they count is crazy. I actually think the Panthers will win the comp as an aside but to say you have won anything to a roosters fan is deranged. All that matters is NRL.

Winning comps is nothing new to this group.

Like the team 2003 and 1991. They have won the junior stuff comming through the grades.

How ill this translate into 2020 finals footy, I have no idea, but gosh oh gosh I will enjoy the ride.

Regarding post try celebrations some opposition supporters are upset by.

A core group of these kids come from Mt druitt, an area where growing up can and is really tough. They played together as kids on the streets, then later in junior teams, many of them are best mates......the celebrations are an outpouring of joy for and towards their mates.

I thought it would be heaps more. Everyone knows Parramatta is a chequebook team, and its starting to show on the field.

In the past Penrith success has come via their local born and developed juniors, (including the gypsy kids from the mid west of NSW).

That's why supporters of the club tend to celebrate their juniors, it also shows young kids you can be sucessful even if you come from Mt druitt or Kingswood.

Sad.

I’d rather win a premiership on locally grown talent than buy one.
There’s the smug again, most fans would just love to win one, you guys have the next 8 in the bag and are complaining about the make up of premiership winning teams.

Why do you always have to think of things in capitalist, neo-liberal perspectives? FFS! This ain’t 4C. Take your rightoid hat off for a moment and post like a Roosters Supporter.

You sound as if you have a contract with your own team/are on the Roosters board.

Good grief PJ, you are the one that just brought 4C in here.

I'm confident the vast majority of roosters fans would agree with what I'm saying.
