I agree with you, i dont expect to be top 8 this year, you lose 4 top players and replace with 1, who is learning a new position and is not at the top of his game, how do you expect the team to play? We will be lucky to beat this reinvigorated titans team, be ready for a heartbreak year, i dont think we planned right or recruited right, RCG would have been an asset as he has shown, instead we have Arrow next year who may be a worker, but is not an attacker or enforcer.
Maybe Arrow can replace Lowe.

Teenage sensation Joseph Suaalii set to become youngest millionaire in Rugby League history: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...y/news-story/c837d156d123ab29a25c749c33b29013

'Freak of nature': Last-ditch Olympic pitch to lure Suaalii to rugby

June 7, 2020 — 7.30pm

The Olympics' postponement has given rugby fresh hope the sport can win an against-the-odds battle with rugby league for the signature of teen prodigy Joseph Suaalii.

As a 16-year-old year 11 student of The King's School, Suaalii would have been too young to play sevens for Australia at the Tokyo Games this year.

But its coronavirus-enforced delay until the final weeks of July next year means the Penrith-raised winger, who impressed the Australian sevens coaches in a training session last year, would be eligible to play in Tokyo 2021.

Rugby Australia needs every last carrot to dangle for Suaalii's signature over the next 12 months, particularly after the Australian Schools and Under-18s representative was the subject of a report he is poised to sign a four-year, $2 million NRL contract with South Sydney.

He is technically off limits to the Rabbitohs until his 17th birthday in August and will not be eligible to play first grade until 2021. But, with rave reviews from Wayne Bennett and Sam Burgess, talk is the deal is done.

RA officials do not believe this to be the case, though there is no doubt rugby is not in a position to compete with the money reportedly on offer at Souths.

The code's decision-makers are also mindful that the hype around Suaalii does not overshadow their keen interest in another Schools and U18s winger, Newington College's Tolu Koula, who is also straddling two codes and plays for Manly in rugby league's SG Ball Cup.

Koula and Suaalii both starred in Australia's drought-breaking away win over the New Zealand U18s last year and their coach, the Brumbies' Peter Hewat, knows first hand why two major codes are so hungry to secure their signatures.

"They're both freaks of nature athletically, they're very mature for their age as well, and we'd love to have them in our game," Hewat said.

"The big thing for me was just letting them play because they only needed a couple of points and then they were off. But what impressed me most was that they wanted to know all the small details in their positions, like running lines from an attack point of view and defensive positioning.

"That's what's so exciting about them playing rugby, because they're already dominating without really knowing what they're doing. So when you add in some small detail - from their eagerness to learn matched with their natural ability - the sky's the limit."

The coronavirus pandemic has not helped rugby's chances, with all forms of the game shut down and the fate of this year's Schools and U18s program not yet decided. Conversely, the NRL is already back up and running.

Rugby is also hindered by lingering uncertainty over what next year's broadcast deal will deliver the code financially, making it impossible in the short term to give Suaalii or Koula - or any player - a concrete competing offer.

Both wingers - Suaalii in the Israel Folau-style of rangy aerial athlete, and Koula with the raw speed and power - were poised to re-join Hewat's squad this year to attempt a repeat of last year's watershed win over the Kiwis.

There is still a chance a series could go ahead and the arrival of highly regarded new Wallabies coach Dave Rennie will allow Australian rugby to throw everything at the youngsters.

But in the case of Suaalii, in particular, the Olympics postponement has provided an unexpected boost.

On the question of age, Olympics rules defer to the laws set out by the global governing body of each individual sport.

Rugby's regulations refer to athletes being 18 years of age, a milestone Suaalii will reach days after the closing ceremony next year.

In reality, though, the Australian sevens team has sought and been granted special dispensation for a handful of 17-year-old athletes to be allowed to compete in open age groups, including Sariah Paki, Tiana Penitani and others.

These precedents make Australian officials confident Suaalii would be cleared to compete - with significant caveats around his Year 12 school commitments at Kings.

Hewat said the game must use everything in its arsenal to pitch a winning program-over-dollars proposal.

"I hope rugby plays on its strengths," he said. "At their age their careers could span Olympics, a tour against the [British and Irish] Lions and the next three World Cups. Without putting pressure on them, that would be a pretty big carrot for me as a young player."

Bold Peter V’landys plan could have ALL NRL fans back in just weeks: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/fdde6ea410613538c9817cdf3ca07673

From the Daily Telegraph,

Souths and Bulldogs fans to be the first back into grandstand seats

Peter V’landys has created a bold blueprint to put 15,000 fans into NRL games by July with the ARLC chairman zeroing in on one match in particular.

Peter V’landys is in talks to create a Sunday afternoon ANZ Stadium derby between South Sydney and Canterbury for 15,000 fans – with the Round 8 event likely to see both clubs share the proceeds of what would be the biggest live sports crowd post COVID-19.

Not content with getting small groups of fans back to rugby league this weekend, the NRL is already working on a blueprint to potentially move the July 5 match between Souths and Bulldogs, which coincides with the start of NSW school holidays, to a Sunday afternoon.

Currently, the game is slated for Bankwest Stadium at 6.30pm.

However, in a bid to create what would be the biggest professional sports crowd since the coronavirus pandemic first broke, there has been discussion about the match being played as a 2pm clash at ANZ Stadium instead.

The proposal is still being discussed, and yet to be signed off by the NSW Government, but would involve detailed biosecurity measures, including the enforcement of strict social distancing both inside the Olympic Park venue and on public transport systems delivering fans to and from the game.

V’landys bold plan to get fans back to the footy kicks off this weekend, with up to 1000 supporters expected across three games at Bankwest Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Under current government regulations, fans are only allowed to attend Bankwest Stadium in corporate areas.

As part of the strict biosecurity protocols, there will be separate entry and exit points, sanitiser stations and a team of cleaners employed to continually disinfect what have been identified as ‘high touch’ points.

However with further easing of rules expected by July, the NRL has already begun drawing up a blueprint to have 15,000 fans at the Sunday match between the Bunnies and Bulldogs.

Given crowds were not expected back so soon when the revamped draw was created, the second Sunday game has been given the later 6.30pm timeslot because it suited broadcasters.

However with V’landys now pushing to have a crowd inside the Olympic Park precinct for the July match, there has been talk around moving kick off forward to 2pm.

While Canterbury are the designated home team in Round 8, it is highly likely the two clubs will co-promote the event.

Over the past two years, the Bunnies and Bulldogs have created a strong working relationship where, across their two games each season, the clubs share the gate takings and promotion for both events.

It follows the growing success of their traditional Good Friday clash.

Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly said he fully supported any move to get fans back into venues, so long as both the NRL and NSW Government deemed it safe to do so.

“We would love to see as many of our loyal members allowed into games as possible,” Solly said.

“So long as the government and NRL tell us it’s safe, the more people we can get in for games the better.

“I know the news that crowds are coming back this weekend already has our members really excited. They can’t wait.”

Need edge forwards, not middles.
I disagree, we need both, we lost 2 edge and 1 middle. Arrow if youve noticed plays 90% of his games either at lock or 2nd row,he really isnt a prop,he isnt a tall or big built body, id be playing him in the 2nd row tbh.
So we need 1 of each, this Dillon we got from cronulla has been a disaster being injured all the time, we need forwards badly and unfortunately we will discover how much today..

Yet he plays club games at 13.
Dont know if anyone is aware, bryson goodwin has transferred to sharks to cover xeri, gone monday
Arrow plays at 13 because that’s where the Titans need him. They have Fotuiaka and Lisone at prop and Hipgrave in rotation. Wallace, Shannon Boyd and Ryan James injured but in squad. So 13 is where they need Arrow. If we need Arrow at prop I am confident that he can play that role.

This is true, and just looking at the squad I totally forgot about Corey Allan who is quite capable and with the open spot Paulo or Gebbie can be promoted

I like what I've seen of Steve Marsters too. There is plenty of talent in the backs at the moment.

South Sydney centre Bryson Goodwin joins Cronulla Sharks: https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/bryson...a-sharks/22661439-b57e-4e9c-8d66-ca9bba36dbe5

Well this is a bit of a shock! A bit sad to see this happen as I really liked Goodwin over the years and he was a great back up. However, you can understand why he's made this decision and I don't blame him for doing so as he'll get a better opportunity to play first grade at the Sharks. Still, it hurts our depth a bit. Our depth is still pretty quality but they're all young, it was good to have an experienced back there to call on. Oh well, thanks for everything you'e done for us Bryson, all the best.

This is great news!!
Would have preferred B Burns go to the Sharks.Goodwin makes metres with his kick returns and defends better than Burns.
B Burns has done nothing special this year since returning from his injury.
The jet will put his ass back in reserves, where he belongs.

Goodwin didn't ever have a realistic chance of making a first grade appearance, he is just to old now. SPEED is everything, absolutely every thing. Especially now with the new rules applying.

I thought highly of him when he was first at Souths but I could neve understand why Souths brought him back and I stated so at the time.

I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
