Titans won't let Arrow shoot through early if he signs with Rabbitohs: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/nrl...-he-signs-with-rabbitohs-20191210-p53ioq.html

Suddenly, it's not looking likely that we'll get him for 2020 if he signs. That'd be frustrating. I'm still holding out hope (if we do sign him that is).

On another note, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mitchell stay at the Roosters.
We have to sign someone bro, surely!
From the Daily Telegraph, this is good signs in regards to Cody!

Wayne Bennett - Cody Walker is staying at South Sydney

Wayne Bennett has boldly declared five-eighth Cody Walker will spurn interest from the Gold Coast Titans to sign a new deal with South Sydney.

The Rabbitohs have presented their final offer to Walker for a two-year contract extension that will keep the former NSW Origin No.6 at Redfern until 2022.

Rabbitohs boss Shane Richardson declared the club could do no more to keep Walker after making a $1.3 million offer and the ball was now in the player’s court.

Walker, 29, started his professional career in the Titans’ under-20s team in 2009 alongside current Gold Coast captain Ryan James, and had received interest from the club to return to Queensland.

However, Rabbitohs coach Bennett says that won’t be happening, guaranteeing Walker will ink a new deal before Christmas to remain at South Sydney.

“Cody isn’t going anywhere – he will stay at Souths,” Bennett told The Courier-Mail.

“We just have to do a deal and the deal is close to being done.

“We won’t lose a bloke like Cody Walker. You can’t easily replace a player of his ability. There’s now an offer on the table so it will be finalised soon.”

Walker is one of the NRL’s great late-bloomers.

He floated between the Titans, Panthers, Storm and Rabbitohs lower grade teams between 2009-15 before earning an NRL debut at South Sydney in 2016.

Walker has made 96 NRL appearances in the past four seasons, barely missing a game, and is now considered to be a crucial part of South Sydney.

While he is not off-contract until the end of the 2020 season, Walker’s management is hoping to secure his future in the coming weeks.

“We have an offer from Souths now and we are working through it,” said Walker’s manager Matt Rose.

“Hopefully we come to an agreement in the next fortnight but it’s all looking positive.

“At this stage, everything is moving towards a deal with Souths. They had to look at their cap situation with Sam Burgess retiring, so we were happy to wait and see how they landed. Now we have picked up talks and we should get something done.

Sam Burgess’s medical retirement could free-up plenty of cap space.
“I believe in the next two to three weeks we will get something done. Cody isn’t off-contract until the end of next year, so there’s been no need to rush the process.

“He’s had quite a bit of interest. Cody could earn more money elsewhere but there’s other factors. He really enjoys playing under Wayne and I believe he could sign one more deal after his next contract.”

This is awesome news bro, I’m very glad, I see him as a very important part of our side, well done Cody and Souths on getting a fair deal done for all.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is for 700k too and Richo is telling porkies to the media lol.......

According to the Telecrap this morning the rorters have told Latrell that his long term future at the club was over. No room for him under the salary cap :sweat_smile: now they are saying he can revisit the wests tigers or gold Coast. Not a mention to the mighty bunnies. Could be interesting the next few days:laughing:

Arrow or no Arrow i still feel we are light on in forwards especially in talent, this long wait for info is debilitating and depressing,we are all clutching at straws and hyperventilating in anticipation.
I for 1 would welcome latrell, we also need 1 prop and 2 backrowers

Dont disagree but Sorensen would be very handy. I think he would add a lot. Would have been a regular for sharks if not for the emergence of Briton Nikora. His 2018 try v Penrith was the type of individual brilliance we lack.

Also the need to replace George Burgess has been overstated. He was a non event in 2019. The existing guys covered for him throughout the year.

If our forwards can have less drop ball and senseless penalties we will be a more effective pack

A very good lesson i learnt when i was younger was don't panic about what you don't control.

We all want to see Souths sign players but it's out of our hands as supporters so we'll just have to sit back and wait for news.

The fact that a formal offer has only just been put to Arrow now suggests to me that the salary cap is tighter than we thought so multiple studs coming in will be unlikely.

What ever happens, i actually believe Souths will be alright. They'll play finals and worst case will be top 6. Lowe and Sua are fine as edge forwards. Murray is a lock for 13 (no pun intended) and Tom, Knight and Tatola are more than capable of leading the prop rotation.

Throw in Amone, Sironen and Nicholls and you have a forward pack plus bench of guys who have shown they can play first grade at the very least.

The backline will be more settled in 2020 whichever line up Bennett goes with. 2019 was a season of mix and match throughout for varying reasons.

The club will be fine in 2020.

I think people need to have more faith in our juniors even without signings. We have some of the best young players in the competition coming through the system. Let’s not forget Bennett was the one who debuted players like Haas, Fifita and TPJ. He’s one of the best at identifying young talent and Souths have one of the best systems in the comp for developing players.

It has been said elsewhere that the tigers would like to have Gagai but Souths would have to pay some of his contract, that would free up some cap space if needed to sign Mitchell.

Titans are standing firm on Arrow for 2020 atm, it appears they would go with a player swap but none of our players seem to want to go there.
