Burton is a growing body, (I think I've asked this before, but my memory is shot, so I'll go again). Burton will eventually be too big for the halves and possibly would slot into the 2nd row not unlike Wade Graham did. He is rangy and very tall.

That's my prediction. I can see him comming off the bench in 20 (if he continues to smash it in pre season training) as a super sub and then move into the 2nd row when his body fills out. He might be on the smaller side for a 2nd rower but I think his mobility and speed would work just look at Peachy.

The 6 was a bigger guy back in the day so it can be done but you are right he could transition to lock for example depending how he fills out.

Regarding this Burton/Luai debate, can we all agree now that Maloney ended up being a waste of time? All he ended up doing is holding back the development of Luai and perhaps due to his 'seniority' and clashing play style, also held Cleary back a little as well.

Except I didn't say Luai is a good NRL half I said he had a good game. You don't need to see someone be consistent over a season to say they played a single good game.

I think everyone played good that so I will give you that but point is he will start the year in 6.., not sure how long he will stay there

Burton will have clubs sniffing around for sure if he’s not playing fg somewhere by the end of the year. Clubs will be able to offer him deals for 2022 after November next year.

We will get a better gauge in 12 months anyway on all the kids. Every position is stacked with options. Slowly a pecking order will start

We are going to miss Maloney’s kicking game a lot to be honest

I think Maloney taught Cleary a lot especially about game management, finding your voice on the field and general leadership.

To me it's a bit like this.....

He was clearly done in 2017 but I can see why we took a shot

We didn't make them with him THIS year. I honestly don't think Nathan learned all that much from him either.

2018 - Maloney threw the squad on his back when Nathan went down and led the team
2019 - I suppose so, but his influence and leadership was invaluable, we don’t have many leaders and his experience was invaluable- just his body didn’t hold up.

I’d do the moylan/Maloney trade again if we could go back 2 years ago, have no doubt we would have performed better against the Storm than the sharks did in prelim against Melbourne, and storm would have fear us more than the sharks ... but wasn’t to be.

Cronulla fans can’t wait to get rid of Moylan....

Burton was quoted last week saying that Maloney was a lot of help to him this season, and that he plans to call him for advice next season as well. So I’m guessing if Burton learnt a lot from him, that Cleary and Luai did as well as they had a lot more involvement with Maloney than Burton did.

If nothing else, hopefully Cleary, Laui and Burton learnt the importance of the halves speaking up both on and off the field. All three seem reserved personalities, well compared to Maloney anyway, but the team needs them to be dominant voices.

No doubt, but perhaps given his age he’d be more willing to bide his time. Where as someone who’s 23 might not.

Burton may also be content with starting FG in another position.

That’s a while away. Unlike Graham, Burton has speed. He could potentially play a range of positions in the backline, where as putting on the bulk to play second row will take some time.

We didn’t but from the time we punted Hook it all just went down hill. From round 10 on it was back as it should of been all along. Can’t say yet we won’t know that til we see how well he develops
