Our spine is better than last year
No cause injuries stop it from happening but certain games last year Storm had Smith and Papenhuyzen on the bench meaning forwards played longer.
JFH was our player of the year last year
Yeo was player of the year the year before
So if they are your best players then you'd play them for 80 mins if you can.
Coaches leave interchanges for later in the game incase injuries happen. So whatever happens 2 interchanges guys get limited time
From my perspective I don’t see the need to play anybody for 80 minutes each game every week, particularly Kikau who would benefit from a 20 minute break at the very least.
You could see each and every time Moses Loeta took the field he felt either inhibited or felt he had to do something special to get more than a handful of minutes on the field.
I’m not saying he is amongst the top handful of front rowers in the game but he is far better than he has been allowed to show and his limited game time from our two most recent coaches has definitely restricted his development which is sad because he is capable of so much more in my opinion.
Props take 4 interchanges, Tamou cannot last longer than 30mins, yeo can last fish can last but why stress them and make them less effective just having out there all 80, when a 10-15min break for both gives them a boost and lets guys like Leota blitzkrieg thru the opposition.8 interchanges doesn’t allow for starting too many guys like Kikau on the bench.
Yeo/JFH were players of the year the last 2 years. Tamou the captain so I don’t see the bench getting much minutes but that said injuries/Suspensions will see those guys get plenty of gametime

Kikau should be off the bench to do the same, he can break open tired defense's 10-15mins into a game,
Both guys remind me of Puletua and Galuvao imagine those as our 2nd rowers very dangerous edges, as Yeo, Tetevano, Fish, Martin and Tamou can all be middles, so put those big wreckingballs leota and kiks and aim them at the mitchell moses's, and ash taylor's of the league,
Exactly so Kikau plays off the bench last 60mins, Leota probably needs a rest at some point, which brings in Capewell or Rotation of Yeo, Fish or Martin into 2nd row4 go on props
1 hooker
1 will be kept for injury
leaves 2 interchanges. Not possible to interchange your whole backrow and get them back on for if the game is close in the last 10 mins.
normally what happens is each game a different player will have a rest. Although HIA probably sees you get an extra one or 2 changes
IMO you play Kikau 1-40. Rest him from 40-60 then bring him on fresh to steamroll in the final 20.
Interchanges are limited but Kikau's the kind of player you build your strategy around.
Thats what i said, Halftime will give him and leota a rest then they can plough through till 60-70min and have Yeo or fish cover them after thatThat would only leave 1 interchange after hookers go.
For me if you want him to get a rest he should start off the bench that way it is just 1 change to get him on and be on at the end

Leota playing on an edge is less work than defending in the middle for his normal 30 mins, he'd last 40-50mins if he was on an edge,I agree that Kikau could be more damaging playing 60 to 70 minutes instead of leaving him out there gassed for 80.
But Leota is too slow to play on an edge though, especially in defence. And he does’t have the motor to play 60 to 70. His average for the last 2 seasons combined is 30 minutes, and watch how hard he is blowing out on the field even playing those sort of minutes.

He would get absolutely carved up defending on the edge.
Kikau plays the 80 for me. We were unfit across the squad last year, hopefully last season was an outlier.
