Still not panic stations yet imo. This is where the real trade period begins. A big move like Moylan's will likely set a bunch of other dominos falling.

Not just him. Fifita, Latrell or any of those guys re-sign as I think they will and the clubs will make room for them

Completely agree.

So far his issues have been consistency and handling. Consistency is related to his engine which will get better with every season (similar to JFH). Handling is probably a combination of fatigue (which will improve) and experience/over-enthusiasm. I could see both problems out of his game in a couple of years at which point he'd be a serious player.

Just gotta hope he stays (relatively) injury free. His tackling technique is excellent, but he's not a huge guy so he'll need to run a bit harder than his opponents to have impact. You need your body to hold up for that kind of thing. A few bad injuries and he could end up like Docker.

Yeah in the game of ours he commentated of ours Hook said Martin is one of the sweetest hitters he has seen(shortly before he hammered fifita to prove the point). Agree with your thoughts on him, another preseason will be a big help for him improving that motor and his handling along with it, he is a highly intelligent guy with a great work ethic so Im backing him to make a couple of big steps over the next few seasons.

Honest question... does anyone here believe we're making the top 8 in 2020?

Yes I genuinely think they will make the top 8. And that’s without knowing who the final 5 spots will be, and even if some of the 5 ended up being more upgraded juniors like Blore and Laurie.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing how the team evolves next season. Especially with Cleary as the dominant half, and Api, Luai and Burns in the spine.

If we have a hell of a season we squeeze into 7th or 8th spot, but we’ll have to play extremely well.

Most likely I see us finishing 10-13 range.

It's hard to imagine we will finish top 8 next year, we're in desperate need of a few backs and at least one prop but even then our attack was horrible, we were honestly very lucky not to finish bottom 4 this season.

We will sign some players and make the 8. I’ve already put the house on.
There's no way we have a better roster in 2020 than we did in 2019. There's no one available to make that a possibility and unless we somehow grab a Turbo, Mitchell or Fifita out from under the other clubs throwing insane money at them and get them a year early I think we are stuck rebuilding slowly.

The problem with waiting til November 1sr is those players are contracted for 2020 already. Clubs wont be keen to release them.

So unless Nathan and Jarome can turn into the best halves pairing in the comp I cant see us making the top 8. Not during a huge rebuild with less cap space than other clubs to work with.

I didn't rate our 2019 roster as very good. Good starting side (hooker aside) so won't take much to be stronger then it.

I think we will get decent enough guys to give us a solid side. How much the young guys develop will decide how high we finish

That is such a ridiculous statement, Are you seriously trying to say there is no one we can sign to improve the roster? How do you come up with this shit? do you wake up each morning and think "hmm whats the most irrationally pessimistic thing I can say today on the forum"

Do you not paying attention to rugby league at all? Players are always being released early. Saying some shit like "They already contracted clubs wont want to release them" is at complete odds with what actually happens every year mate, you know this little thing called reality. We already know a number of contracted players who are very likely going to be at different clubs next season, good players.

Ridiculous statement?

In established rep or fringe rep players we lost Dallin Watene-Zeleziak, Waqa Blake, Reagan Campbell-Gillard and James Maloney.

Theres absolutely zero f**king chance we can sign better than that in 2020. Youre living in a fantasy world if you think we will kick 2020 off with an equalor better roster than we had in 2019.

That's ridiculous. Not to say what we have is zero chance at imporoving. But there's simply no way we are going to have a stronger squad than we did this year. Its pretty obvious Ivan started a rebuild and 2020 is going to be the backbone of that rebuild.

I honestly think we could sign no one besides Api and improve significantly. The amount of underperforming players we had last year, in particular for the first half of the year was huge. What we got out of hooker and fullback for most of the year was not nrl standard, throw in Jimmy and Nathan own form struggles and its a shit show.

I have faith we will be much better prepared for next season and have a much better year even if we do strike out in the player movement, which is unlikely but whatever it could happen I guess.

So if we manage to get JWH who seems to be the one we are chasing the most he wont improve us? Mate at least I am rational enough to not make emotionally clouded statements that are factually incorrect. If I was to believe your statements then Ivan has doubled our player turnover and contracted NRL stars don't change clubs.

Maloney was plodding along collecting his cash, no loss there.

T'oo is outplaying DWZ, no loss

RCG is mentally shot, no loss

Blake... yeah bit of a loss

While Glenn wants to stay in Brisbane. Might not happen. So too Walker at Manly. Sharks will get more desperate and cover more of their players salary to leave... Plenty to play out yet

Depending on the cost of Fifita and the Turbos. Walker & Glenn might be still available too
