Parra is easily the biggest club in Sydney.
they are doing a great job maximising the benefits of the new stadium. Well done Eels.

Yes, they want the big games on Thursday night. It is the big night for ratings.
I only wish the seats and stands were Blue but yes great stuff.they are doing a great job maximising the benefits of the new stadium. Well done Eels.

They need to stay in 1 ground or be bought out and moved and if fans say that they won't support the team any more then look at tonight it's already happening.is anyone surprised that Tigers keep drawing shit crowds?
They are +20 years into an identity crisis that doesnt look like its going away. Just this year, they have SIX “home” grounds. No wonder fans arent turning up.
They need to make some tough decisions and stop trying to be everything to everyone.
Great crowd!!! and great crowd in NQLD too!
Have we all finally agreed that the shitty, run-down suburban grounds are the major factor keeping crowds low?
or are some people still delusional...
Pity they can't develop players. They'll never be truly successful until they do.Parra is easily the biggest club in Sydney.
Then crowds quickly dropped in the late 80s right through the Tina Turner years and that was the for St.George upgrade in 1988...fans just didn't turn up apart from the hard co.Pity they can't develop players. They'll never be truly successful until they do.
I seem to remember big crowds when the previous one opened in the mid 80s as well.

True. The point is that when Parra is doing well we get significantly bigger crowds than when any other Sydney team is doing well and also when we are doing poorly we get much bigger crowds than other Sydney teams when they are doing poorly. Parra never drops below about 14k. Everyone else drops sub 10k.
The gap will get bigger as well with the city growing and the light rail making things easier.
Parra probably are the best supported club in Sydney (dont tell souths fans) but it wouldn't be by a wide margin and there is no need to make up stats to try and prove the point.
Only northern Eagles, souths and saints have averaged under 10k since 2000. The first 2 were early 2000s and saints was 2019 when the fans were rebelling.
Dogs have a very good average of around 20k when they are doing well and you couldn't get a ticket to kogarah circa 09-11. West's have a tonne of fans too, they just never do well enough on the field for us to see it.
Parra are also definitely benefitting from the new stadium. That's not a crack at them, we need every team in nice sized modern rectangular staidums like that. It will be interesting to see what the new SFS does for crowds.
It will for a while, until the newness wears off. Meanwhile all of NSW is paying for it and Parramatta. With the new SFS being shared between Souths and Roosters it should move their averages up.
And the Cowboys did the right thing, squeezing out a win against little brother to bring the crowds back next time.
Have Souths committed to playing there?Penrith, Cronulla, Manly and Roosters get a lot of sub 10k crowds when they are not playing well. I didnt say the average over a season is sub 10.

It is the sole reason Parra got 9,000 more than Penrith on the same night.that is a debate for another thread
