I thought both sets of halves were average. The difference was our 1 and 9 were shit whilst QLD's were better.
I thought Moses and Munster were solid, DCE and Wighton were average, Cook and Teddy were shit and Ponga and Hunt were good.

Yeah I call bullshit on that. Moses made 13 kicks so unless he caught the ball without moving for 7 of them, your argument is flawed.
So where did the 6 runs come from? Is it the few steps he made drifting across field before passing then? If he made 1 run for 7 metres according to Champion. And we include the whole 6 for 26m on NRL That leaves 5 runs for 19 metres. That's about 3-4 steps a run??

The key stat is line engagements. And they are not up yet.

If he holds up a defensive line with his movements before passing, why shouldn’t they be included? As I said, I think the discrepancies come from a difference in definition. We can agree to disagree on what we think is important enough to record, but I think we can both agree your assumption that NRL stats count the few steps before a kick as bullshit.

You should really take a look at how many try assists Cleary had in his first 3 series. I’ll give you a hint…Moses has more in 1 game. He kicked well, defended well and put on some tries. To be fair he was let down by those around him.
He probably was, but there's no doubt his team mates felt the need to over compensate for what they felt he couldn't provide.

Moses did EXACTLY what he does for Parra. Just distributes the ball (mostly to a runner inside), never runs and prays that tries will come off his last tackle kicks. That was a very Moses performance. Freddy got exactly what he selected.
And no doubt what he instructed. Commentators over the last few days have talked up the attacking skills of Teddy, Latrell and Turbo and how Moses and Wighton just needed to get them the ball for a NSW win.

Well then that’s their failure. He can provide an elite kicking game and try assists so the fact they didn’t give him enough ball is on them. He even threw in a very good defensive game for them.
His defence was decent.

In reality his entire game was decent.

But he's always going to be a downhill skier and Parra needs more from their highest paid player when it matters than just being decent.

His missed tackles were all at the end when he was playing on one leg. Tackles he let go of when other defenders came in to wrap the runner up, so he could get back into the line.
I noticed that too. Up until that point his defence was pretty solid with some good one-on-ones thrown in.

Most downhill skiers are pretty good on the descent.

I thought Munster was “decent”, DCE was average and Teddy was poor. All of those players would be on more than Moses. We’re not paying Moses elite money, so we shouldn’t expect it from him. The upside of that is we can allocate more resources to other positions to make up for what Moses lacks.

Read 3 different journos ratings (hooper, Mole, DT) all have Moses as worst on field for not doing anything in attack or not being as good as Cleary.

do they forget Cleary took 8 games to get his first try assist for NSW? Or that he’s on 10 games now for 2.

Moses has as many try assists for NSW in 1 game as Cleary does in 10!!

just shows the complete anti-Moses rhetoric by the media.

I think it's normal to not expect too much from an Origin debutant. That's just how it goes at that level. And Moses certainly stepped up as the game went on.

On the other hand, Chris Kennedy from NRL.COM
Mitchell Moses: Defence was excellent from the outset with a number of crucial one-on-one tackles. Almost unsighted in attack in the opening half but got better as the game went on, setting up Wighton's try with a nice pass and Koroisau's with a brilliant kick. Long kicking game was reliably good but lack of cohesion from the two halves a big problem for NSW. 5.5
Mind you Kennedy gave the QLD players a combined rating of 123.5 and NSW a total of 98.0 so he might not be the best judge.
