I'm surprised they went with To'o as Topou is a rock under the high ball and pretty good metre eater and finisher.

Not as a good as To'o for post contact but not a heart attack if there's a well placed bomb coming his way.
If things do go apeshit, maybe Turbo to wing and To'o to centre.

To'o won't have an issue, we've seen all season how teams are quick to realise there is a clear weapon out the on wing of the opposition so they get bodies in the way and the winger never gets a full chance to catch the ball with the momentum that he needs to get a clean catch, it'll be the same here again.

I’m still apprehensive at what effect V’landys ball will have on the game. Never thought I’d see the day where Origin players are calling for a gentleman‘s agreement to not lay down.
This as a scenario in which everyone dreads.

It's 12 all...5 seconds to go in the 3rd and deciding SOO game, and a team is close to their opponent's goal line. A player feigns injury to get a pen kick at goal after an innocuous tackle. Do the refs go to the bunker, or do they tell him to be a gentleman and stop milking?

I assume 8.14 is 8.14am tomorrow morning which is the only way that's possible. Certainly won't kick off within 5 minutes of kick off time.
The start time doesn't bother me so much as to not knowing which day the 2nd half starts. 😀

I tend to think the betting agencies do a roaring trade in the 30 minutes leading up to KO, so when the bet plunging tapers off, they give the all clear to get the game going.

Looking forward to this SOO series far more than any in the last 3 years. Felt the overall quality of the teams in recent times (admittedly Covid year was a blip) has been lacking a lot - irrespective of who won.

But looking at these two teams now, I get the feeling this could be the start of a great era... for both NSW/Qld. Big names emerging and establishing themselves in key positions..

Origin could get back to it's heights where it was for so long.

the 2018 and 2019 series had very high quality games. 2018 was a great series.

2018 was a great series, 2019 was a series with a great finish (even though it shouldn't have been allowed to get so close at the end but NSW stood up when it counted so I won't complain any further about that)

I've got to say that I can't recall a time where I felt less enthused about an upcoming Origin series. These new rulings, coupled with the tendency for refs to "help" a team back into the contest at key points in the game, has me wary. I have that awful sense that a game- maybe even the series- is going to be decided by a controversial sin-binning and I'll either be basking in a hollow NSW victory or cursing one of the usual Qld suspects (Munster, Kaufusi) for playing dead to hand the Maroons the shield.

If Cleary and Luai get quality ball to the likes of what is waiting in this NSW back-line, it'll be a massacre if Qld don't move up quick and put them off their game.

Looks like around 17 degrees and under 50% humidity tonight. Channel 9 pre-game will still hit their quota of mentioning the heat though.
They'll do this. They'll also during the game mention how (insert team) are at sixes and sevens or out on their feet, only for the same team to suddenly spring to life 5 minutes later after several rather convenient penalties blown their way. This will be punctuated by frequent observations (in bewildered tones) how Origin manages to do this time and time again, as if by magic. "How many times do we see this?" etc etc. They'll cut to shots of the crowd and talk about how good Townsville is and how "we should come here more often".

Maybe I'm cynical? I just want Origin that plays out like real footy and not this contrived TV product it has become.

Those days are long gone.
SOO is reality TV these days.
