Back on the game... much has been made about how Taaffe will handle Cleary's kicking game. The question needs to be put on the Panthers, too.

A lot has been said about how we were in control for the first 30 minutes last time we played them. We were completely dominating Edwards in Rd 23, which largely lead to our better field position. Edwards coming off after 25 minutes and Crichton going to the back was the turning point.

Crichton played out of his skin at FB, much better than he has been this year at centre. I understand To'o returning makes an enormous difference there (getting their sets going), but it's something I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. Cleary may have the best bomb in the game, but Reyno is not far behind in that regard.

You're right, Edwards will be key. He's very confidence based. If he drops a ball early or makes an error he gets the yips.

Still brings a lot to our side though which gets unseen by the majority of other supporters. His positioning and organisation of the defense is second to none imo. Beats the first man when bringing the ball back more times than not also.

big hit!

Cleary, as good as it was, didn't win the game last time around. It was some brain farts from the Souths middles.

They need to stay in whole game, not just the first 30mins

Typical Wayne with this illegal block play crap, usually this time of year he is talking wrestling.

souths rolling over front rowers legs in tackles is a clearly coached tactic, and no effort has been made to coach out the cheap shots that happen after every other try scored by opponents.

No-one is talking about Taaffe or Latrell any more, are they? Classic Wayne misdirection. He brings up a valid point so it can't be easily dismissed, but he does it to take heat off the team.

It's basically Wayne saying "look over there!" and the media take the bait every time.

I'm pretty pleased that Ivan has returned serve. Going toe to toe with the wiley old merkin would be pretty daunting. A bit of spice always makes a dish taste better.

And after all this to add their own spice you just know that refs will penalise Souths for an illegal blocker, and penalise the Panthers for a late tackle on Reynolds.

I think one of the penalties you got last game was for late contact. It was pretty borderline too iirc.

The illegal blocker whinge is an odd one for me. If you are going to spike your flag on the hill you are prepared to die on it's not the one I would choose. All teams do it and I only recall it being penalised once or twice after Sticky whinged about it during field goal attempts. Ironically after a game against us. Maybe that is his angle, going for that as our "dirty" tactic as it's been called out previously.

you are underestimating this. It is signaling an intention to stand even further than usual offside on the last tackle. It’s going to be open season on the kicker and the talk won’t be about the guys standing 5m offside to get to the kicker

I cant see the refs falling for it. A few six agains for offside on the last will put it to bed. Then again we are talking the NRL, so who knows really.

Hopefully we use Burton to put in a few kicks early in the game. He has a hell of a boot on him and that will leave the Souths forwards guessing on where to target.

As I said - it's all misdirection. Gets the stupid media jabbering about something else so we can spend our last 48 hours of preparation in peace. If there's an added bonus of it getting into the Panthers heads on 5th tackles (it won't), then that's good too.

It will explode anyway. They have a fair allocation of mouth breathers in there. Ha ha.

To be fair so do we.
Oh definitely. And while we can almost guarantee there will now be one penalty for an illegal block, if there are two or more I will explode also.

We are fan(atic)s..
