Maybe.
Maybe not
Maybe short term yes
If these young'uns break out?

Remember we thought the sky was falling in when we decided to flick Sandow and put in some young guy most never heard of called Reynolds.

IMO we really need to find a marquee forward like Sam if we really wanna compete. Maybe two of them.
We have a marquee forward in Cam Murray

..... especially Gagai given lack of replacements available
Well maybe they gonna pick up a cheapie in free agency. I'd have a look at Dylan Walker, because it looks like he'll be out of Manly at the end of the season. He still only 26, and its not his ability that is in question, it's his knucklehead attitude, which means most club s might pass on him. But maybe a return home might make him pull his head in.

Maybe Taafe can play centre, he isn't much smaller than Gagai, or Matt Burton, probably quicker, the question mark will be can he defend. But he dropped Taumalolo one-on-one so obviously he has some tackling ability.

Let me break it down for you. I'll keep it as simple as possible just for you.
How many competition points do you get for a 2 point win ? Answer - 2 points
How many competition points do you get for a 40 point win? Answer - 2 points
Since 2=2 then they are indeed equal in terms of reward. See how that works?
A dog is an animal.
A cat is an animal.
But they aren't the same animal.

Just like a good win and an ugly win. They're the same on the surface but beneath there are many telling differences.

Obviously I didn't make it simple enough. Unless of course you're just arguing for the sake of it.

Putting my two bits into the Jim/Trav discussion, it doesn't really matter much until rnd 1 of the playoffs and after. We've shown that for 3 years straight.

Manly are one injury away from fading out of view.
Parramatta is in deep shit, Moses has a broken back, and maybe even with him, they aren't going to be much. We've handled them easily.
Roosters are still a dark horse but we should get that job done just on pride & passion alone - our backs are better than theirs.
We need to see how Cleary is going to be when he gets back. Without him, Penrith got no chance.
Melbourne is a big problem. We need to avoid them completely, and hope someone knocks them out at the PF.
I got the Storm to win it....If we don't

Apples and oranges are both fruit but are both significantly different.

+2 and +40 are both wins but are both significantly different.
And as has been pointed out to you, both only earn you 2 competition points. What part of that can't you get your head around?

Go away and read up on it. You might then realise where you've strayed off the path.
Travitoh has a point though let’s be honest our defence right now and all year hasn’t been good enough to look like winning a comp. We are letting in 20 points a game on average. Teams that win the premiership let in way less points than that. You can’t just say come finals let’s flick a switch we will be right it doesn’t work like that. We all know this team can score big points but it’s the defence again this year that will stop us making the GF and it’s the forwards who overall do not stand up in big games as well as having wingers that don’t run big big metres.

If we don’t at least make the GF this year our tenure under Bennett will have been a fail. He was brought here to win 22 and for me a pass mark at worst had to be a GF loss. To bow out in week 2 this year on in 4th straight prelim 4 years in a row would mean Bennett has failed especially with the stacked squad we have had.

If you're happy to just participate come finals, then sure. 2 competition points is the only thing that matters.
If you have ambitions to be a contender though, wins like the Wests and Canterbury games aren't to be celebrated.
The thing about winners is that when they win, they're still striving to be better. This Souths team doesn't display that characteristic.

Absolutely. Bennett is getting paid near $1M a season and hasn't taken the team any further than his predecessor.

Looks like a swop gagai for milf, what a joke we have become
What role could Milford play in South’s current set up? He wouldn’t make the 13 so could only be considered a 14. He’s not tough enough to be a good 14. I’d prefer Taafe. If we need to bring an additional utility player I’d look at someone like Cade Cust. If we are looking at a specialist centre it’s still a no to Milford, if you think about what the best centres offer he is nothing like them. Given that we have development players coming through we would be better with no one rather than the wrong one.

If we are serious about carrying a utility on the bench Connor Watson is off contract and looking for a team .. he covers a lot of spots but will come on at anytime and do the tough stuff in the middle anyway

I agree with all that R20 but we weren't discussing our defence. Had he said to me "don't you think our defence is below par" I would have told him I agree wholeheartedly. However we were focusing on our attack which I believe is as good as any in the comp. Yes, defence is very important in winning a GF, but as long as you outscore your opponent you will get the win.

Mate, 57 youve nailed it,100% this sort of recruitment shows how much weve lost our way.
Ive got to believe that, giving both reynolds and gagai 1 year deals, they knew they wouldnt stay and were token offers, i cant believe there isnt some master plan in motion, others can call it conspiracy theories and rubbish my thoughts but I cant believe the stupidity of the power brokers at the club if this is not so. They must realise the damage this will do to our clubs credibility and recruitment.

Good to see you acknowledge that the club was forcing Reyno to leave with that offer. Hopefully now that puts to rest the notion that Reyno leaving is solely on him.

Still an offer was made, if he loved the club as much as he made out he could have taken the offer, then his recruitment within dosent stand well with me,i dont care who he is,once his gone ,his gone

As you said "a token offer" I don't know about you, but I sure as hell wouldn't take a token offer regardless of how much I loved something. Only a fool would. As to you not caring, you've made that perfectly clear already.
