Hey Handy bro I've been flat out like a lizard drinking:grinning: Like I said to you guys when all this speculation started about Reynolds weeks ago that he will re-sign with the bunnies. He won't be going anywhere! Gags will be staying also and Burnsie may have to hang up his boots but will stay on with South's in some capacity. Cap space is tight gentlemen as you know. A few lesser lights will move on. Had to laugh when I heard Corey Allen had massive regrets signing with the dogs. The culture is very different there - watch this space:wink:
Thanks Mixo. Jeez I hope your mail is spot on!!

Stars support 18th man emergency sub provided it's not manipulated: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/03/29...n-emergency-sub-provided-its-not-manipulated/

The NRL will approve an 18th man on Tuesday. But it’ll come with these strict conditions: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/396e6a10b68ccec4ef8518fafb11d661

I'm all for the 18th man provided it is under the conditions mentioned in that Fox Sports article as that would be nearly impossible for teams to rort. What does everyone else think?

It's a knee jerk reaction to a freak weekend. There was no discussion 7 days ago and there is no data that suggests the volume of injuries is a regular issue.

Saying that, i wouldn't necessarily be against an extended bench as long as the number of interchanges remain. I hate the idea of a substitute though. It feels like doing something to be seen as doing something. An extra bench player would allow teams more flexibility from the bench, sitting an outside back to cover for potential injuries or form during a game.

If the NRL were so serious about concussion, they'd sit anyone who fails a HIA for a nominated amount of time (14 days or so).

Edit: An extra man on the bench could also help keep the big men involved in the game moving forward.

Danny Weidler was saying on 2KY this morning that he spoke to the agent Gillis, he said that if Souths sign Reynolds they wont be able to keep Gagai.

I dont know how Souths have stuffed up the cap money allocations? Hasn't helped signing a bunch of broken down players who are permanently injured, injured before the season even started and now we cant keep our main players

Weidler has no idea. He is fake news. Why would resigning Reynolds impact Gagai when the sticking point for Reynolds is the length of the deal not the amount.

I'd be looking to move Knight to another club and see how much we can save, should be able to get at least 50% back
I dont get the problem with knight, there was a head knock at training, not a full contact 100mile per hr game situation and its effecting him so much he has been out of action for 6 weeks? Could this be a player rorting the system?
He hasnt suffered bad reactions before,i know he copped a bad knock and gash last year, i thought he recovered.
Maybe he is agitating for a release.
The AR goes or gagai goes situation spoken here that DWeidler has mentioned,i cant see it unless they allocated gagais coin elsewere, adams not agitating for money anyway i think he is on about 750k how could the club mismanage the cap so badly? Gagai also knows that age 30 he was going to accept a wage reduction to stay, he admitted it last week, we will probably offer him around 450k

Weidler said thats what Gillis said to him

Im not attacking the messenger i just think its a load of bs. I've never really found Weidler to be reliable.

I dont know if that's a wise idea because Knight is about to come into his peak as a prop forward. I personally don't think Burns is worth the money going forward. I understand he's liked by the club and he's a great player when he's on but he is the most injury prone player I've ever seen.

I also find myself wondering about Mansour. Good wingers are everywhere in this comp.

Burns contract is finished after this season, thank god, but i doubt he's on that much money. Knight is the one outside the current 17 who is on the biggest money and is still on contract after this season

With the way our fowards have been playing, he is superfluous to our needs ATM

I still think our forward pack can be improved to be completely honest and I think Knight can help our forward pack go to the next level. Especially as an impact player coming to the prime age for props.

I dont really know the figures that each squad member is on so its hard for me to say much about that.

For & Against - Souths should give Reynolds a long-term deal: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/03/30/for--against-souths-should-give-reynolds-a-long-term-deal/

Reynolds call could force out Souths star - Transfer Whispers: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/5452d47a9d55bad74cb53e609914df49

Now, I get that we as fans don't know everything but to me, this report deosn't make any sense. Reyno's contract dispute isn't about how much we're paying him, it's the length of the term. Thus, it's believed if he was to re-sign, it would be at a significant pay-cut. What's more, Gags has come out and said he'd quite happy take a pay cut to stay with Souths. So this doesn't really make sense to me if both are willing to take a pay cut. Surely our cap isn't that tight?

Mark Levy - Rabbitohs must stop playing contract games with local hero Adam Reynolds: https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/mark-l...standoff/a4b224e8-852b-45a4-9adc-d3fcd006419e

Completely agree with everything Levy has said there, great article!
