I saw someone say "players don't go out there to injure other players". That may be true for the rest of the comp but for over a decade the storm have employed tactics to purposefully injure the opposition. And when they're losing they ramp up the efforts to injure ten fold.

I agree 100% with you.

But this is the NRL's fault - for far too long, they have been too cowardly to act, to actually follow through with their bravado regarding protecting players' welfare.

Had they taken a stance a decade ago to say, "Hey - we want a successful team in Melbourne, but these cannonball, chicken wing, crusher, etc. forms of tackles WILL be stamped out - here's a 6 week suspension to <insert player name here> for their first offence, to show how deadly serious we are," then I dare say things would be different now.

Abdo has a job ahead of him to rein this behaviour in.

If ever there was any question about the imbecility of people on social media, the Felise Kaufusi incident will cast aside all doubts about the sheer lack of intelligence on social media.

The amount of people with sub-par intelligence, defending Kaufusi, and saying idiotic things such as, "It couldn't have been deliberate - he wasn't even looking at Matterson!" and, "Kaufusi was just trying to wrap the ball up!"

There is such a phenomenon as being contrarian, but this is simply ridiculous.

Obviously he is going to make it look like it was an accident. That's the beauty of it.

Also Olam is more a power centre, against opposition that are more fleet-footed he may struggle. But he'd also probably do better in attack as Olam is probably the strongest centre and a good tackler.

And - no matter if wet, dry, snowing, earthquakes or hurricanes - he'd still do better than Wakka Flake.

Unless you are a rusted on Storm supporter, every other club knows that they have introduced nearly every grubby tactic ever devised in the footy file. Chicken wings, knees to the back of player calf muscles, over the top wrestling, Billy Slater leading with his boots on try scorers forearms to the heads of prone players who can’t protect themselves and one of the most shameful incidents with that merkin Cameron Smith and Alex MCKinnon, the list is endless. But its Bellamy, Smith and the Storm so they get away with it and come up with more grubbiness. Dreadful club.

Having said that, though, pretty much the only bloke on the Storm roster who isn't a merkin is Christian Welch.

I believe him when he says there was no malice in his tackle.

He was a massive grub on the weekend. Plenty of niggle and bullshit. Maybe he only seems like a good bloke most of the time because they win most of the time.
If he did not do his ACL back in 2019 and signed with us, all would have been forgiven. But he’s not and is part of a set up that encourage and train this grubbiness into their players. Filthy pricks!

TCT is famous!!!
Respect to Welch for what he said but I think their system 100% encourages, if not actively trains for, that type of tackling
