The NRL bunker is just as prone to inconsistency as we have seen in this tournament…
I wouldn't know much about the bunker in this tournament as I haven't watched much of it , the NRL bunker is pretty consistent in some areas of how they interpret the rules & ball carrying is one of them

Sometimes I think people aren't even RL fans, they just love the drama of controversy. They make a controversy out of anything because they love drama. No other sport carries on about decisions like this..
🤣 🤣 🤣

18 all & a call 30m out in front of either a penalty to NZ or a scrum feed to Fiji ... stuffed up..
is hardly making controversy out of nothing , we need our officials to be better then they were this morning.

Jesus the state of these comments lol

Don’t know how anyone can say with a straight face that the better time lost when for basically the entire second half NZ were making metres at will while Fiji were clinging on for dear life

Still a pretty piss poor performance mind you

Agree with you 100%

If Australia could choose their opponent, they would choose Fiji ten out of ten times. Bloody brave effort from Fiji.

NZ have been crap all tournament. I bloody hope they sum up a first class performance next week.

The draw was deliberately rigged so that Australia couldn't face New Zealand in the final.

After years of disappointment, looks like the RLWC tournament organisers wanted to give England the best opportunity of making the final by scheduling the draw in such a way so they'd avoid facing NZ in the semis. They didn't want to go down the same road as the 1995, 2000 and 2013 RLWC, where England and Australia were drawn in the same group, and the loser of the match between them during the group phase of the tournament went on to face NZ in the semis.

1. The better team won.
2. Fiji are a 45 minute team.
3. Atkins tried to referee us out of the game in the first half. We were always offside, and Fiji somehow weren't.
4. Why do we always have to play at night? All of our games have been at night in damp, dewey conditions, while Aus and England have played all of their games in broad daylight on dry decks. That's why we look a lot chunkier in attack compared to them. Let's see how we go in the day. There's no bigger difference in conditions between day and night than in England.

Don't you know ? In league it's always the ref's fault. Other sports accept the ref's decisions and move on.

The Wallabies V France game ended in a controversial penalty try but they aren't having a sook.

There was a penalty or a 6 again to Fiji 4 times in the first 15 minutes. Without that , Fiji get blown off the park by 60 minute mark.

Well that was a choke of Dragon proportions. I would have loved to see Fiji win but some of the errors they made were unforgivable. NZ have so much talent in their side but are lazy and rely on individual efforts to win. If they somehow find a way to play as a team they will destroy any opposition.
Take a bow though FIJI, you put yourselves in a great position to win and hopefully learn from it.

The more worrying thing is how they're coasting through games as if getting the W is enough.

Winning every set is how Aus & Eng have approached things. That high tempo footy means more 6-agains because the other side can't keep up.

If the ref is going to overturn the on field call and decide it's a strip he needs to clearly identify who stripped it- Kikau falls off the tackle and Manu still has the ball & completes his spin - so it can't be Kikau who stripped it- then the ball starts coming loose before the next Fijian (unsure name) arrived -from behind mind you, good luck deliberately stripping it from there anyway- before he gets there it comes loose. So whose arm exactly was he saying actually did the strip?

Clearly an incorrect over rule for mine. Mind you Fiji had their chance 2 sets early and muffed the 5th tackle play so I can't say it surely decided the result- Fiji had ther fair cracks too. Otherwise an absolute cracking game and one of Fiji's best ever international performances. They can leave head held high.

If IRL can get a few matches for these Pacifika teams before the next WC to keep the cohesion going- or I believe Fiji has a team coming into NSW or QLD cup?- the next WC cycle could be a watershed for some of those teams like PNG/Fiji and the rest.

atkins wasn't within 300Kms of the ground & Australia have played all their games at night too 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

they weren't playing a 1/4 final in a world cup tho were they ?
Fair enough, let's take the penalty goal off NZ, they still win 22-18.
What about when the Fijian half back dropped the ball off the scrum 20 meters from the NZ line with 5 minutes to go. Do you think that had more impact on the final score ? Yeah , Na it was the ref's fault.

no one knows what happens if the Fijians get a scrum feed there instead of the NZ penalty & yea , Fiji had opportunities late in the game & blew them all

all I know is that wasn't a penalty ... we need competence with refereeing for these big games
