Ok who do we jettison from our white ball squad to prepare for next years back to back T20 WC and the next ODI WC. Surely Maxwell is first cab off the rank. Again the 'big show' failed to turn up to a major tournament. Barely got out of a canter. Starc follows him as does Wade. Inglis is a better keeper and bat. Finch is not the player he was while I'd like to see Steve Smith concentrate the remainder of his career on what he does best, Tests. Give Marnus his white ball role. Cummins was below his best too.
wtf?

Are there only 2 years between T20WCs?

May as well just make it every 6 months.

A saffer v Kiwi final would be really interesting to watch.

It'd be a question of which team chokes the most.

I don't buy the toss thing either - if NZ score 15-20 more (which we should have) and bowl properly then suddenly scoreboard pressure and room for error becomes much more of a factor.

When it comes to games like this we aren't aggressive enough. Every batsman except Williamson looked scared to get out. Guptill barely played a shot in anger. Why we let guys like Hazlewood bowl ball after ball back of a length I'll never know. McCullum would have been down the wicket every second ball lol.

Compare that to Australia whose run rate didn't dip at all after losing wickets, they just kept attacking. That is why we lose these games. Well that and the putrid bowling.

Sodhi is just shithouse - always has been - sadly unlike Wade, Stoinis etc he didn't step up and fluke something in a big moment

Williamson should never have gone back to him - while Santner doesn't threaten, he is very difficult to score off... also would have liked Neesham in a bit earlier - he and Phillips were the two biggest threats

Boult is just an excellent bowler in all cricket, the only one I'd trade for him anywhere is Cummins who's a generational bowler - shame he's heading home, but our Govt restrictions are brutal and clearly he wants to spend time with his family

Time to flush the dunny on Guppy imo... with Allen, Phillips, Conway we have much better options moving forward...

They were saying it was Guptill’s worst run rate all tournament. Probably not the best time to be striking at 80.00. Doing this in the powerplay on a deck that was doing absolutely nothing.

He chewed up almost 6 overs (35 balls) . Kiwis were 2/76 in the 12th over when he got out before putting the foot down (thanks to Kane) Neesham only faced 7 balls (13 runs). Phillips also plodded at 18 runs from 17 balls. Both sides had a couple of bowlers who bowled crap. But our main 3 bats scored at around 140.00 or over. India, Poms (and probably a few other sides) run down 172 easily on that deck tbh...

Williamson's innings though was unbelievable, that was proper batting, not smash it hard as he could and watch it fly
That was my take on Williamson too. The guy is all class in both formats. Did not need to resort to reckless cross bat in the zone hitting.. mostly played correct cricket strokes. A joy to watch. And for mine Haze's catch was not as simple as some are saying. He never had time to settle under the ball, was always moving and the ball was well above his head..
