Newcastle centre Dane Gagai is expected to miss at least a month with a fractured cheekbone while teammate Hymel Hunt is facing a longer stint after both suffered similar injuries on the weekend.

Gagai managed to play through the 80 minutes in Newcastle's 39-2 loss but scans have since returned a facial fracture while Hunt's is considered more serious with a six-week return to play timeframe.

poor guy is on a hiding to nothing. Has been training as ball playing middle entire year and now has to come in a mark Justin Olam. My worry is he'll have a Morgan Harper like game and it will put him down the pecking order behind Crossland

You could just see this scenario arriving this year. And it as nightmarish as it gets. The thing is I wanted our top squad ready and injury free so there were no more excuses for O’Brien. it pissses me off that he can now hide his incompetence behind injuries and two fluke top 8 finishes.
