Because it's 2022, not 1952.
I’m talking from a management perspective
They seem totally unprepared for the shit show that’s transpired
Because it's 2022, not 1952.
Because they’re hiding behind religion as an excuse for being homophobic. If they truely felt this strongly about their religious beliefs they wouldn’t dare step out in an a jersey plastered with gambling advertisement, onto a ground backed by an alcoholic brewery.Oh lordy ... here we go. This is going to get really messy.
How dumb are the manly officials not consulting the religious players if they would be happy to wear the jersey.
I'm not an expert on the players beliefs and if alcohol and gambling advertising is a bad thing in the bible but regardless of why they don't want to wear the jersey it's the geese at manly who didn't ask the players if they would be happy to wear the jersey.Because they’re hiding behind religion as an excuse for being homophobic. If they truely felt this strongly about their religious beliefs they wouldn’t dare step out in an a jersey plastered with gambling advertisement, onto a ground backed by an alcoholic brewery.
Why should need to consult with players?Oh lordy ... here we go. This is going to get really messy.

Well, I would think this is different because it's well known what religious beliefs are on this topic and manly have quite a few religious players. Why should need to consult with players?
Should they consult before the indigenous jerseys in case they have a bunch of racists in the team too? Or consult before a Women in League jersey in case they have a bunch of sexists in the team?
You’re being too level-headed, fair-minded and intelligent here. The Folau issue we all witnessed meant that it would’ve been prudent for the club to mention it to the players. Just in case…Why should need to consult with players?

Oh, someone better read up on religious beliefs about women and other races.Well, I would think this is different because it's well known what religious beliefs are on this topic and manly have quite a few religious players.
Blind Freddy could have seen there might have been a problem asking them to wear this jersey.
There absolutely are. I had a RoNdEzVoUs with one about a decade ago and was told I would be "put in a ditch" if I leaked anything to the media. I was not worried about such threat as it is quite common, however I would never out someone of course - that shit is so evil. At that time he was worried that he would not win any sponsors or support. He also told me that only a select few Aussie teammates knew and he was instructed to keep it from other players so I think that kind of secrecy might still be in place. He was truly a heartbroken guy, I often hope that he is happy now.I’m assuming the inner circle of players would have a fair idea at least which players are gay. Can someone explain the logic that these religious nuts won’t wear a jersey celebrating gay pride but have no problem packing down and getting physical with a gay player?

Sounds like you're an expert ? Enlighten meOh, someone better read up on religious beliefs about women and other races.
Or perhaps not if “out” players are being told not to tell players.probably the same reason those gay team mates are happy to pack down with their religious team mates but don’t attend Hillsong with them.
being accepting and tolerant of something doesn’t not require being forced to celebrate it.

It's a jersey, not a Pride march. No one is forcing them to 'celebrate' it.probably the same reason those gay team mates are happy to pack down with their religious team mates but don’t attend Hillsong with them.

I think that’s a bit of a stretch, mate. Threatening to boycott is also aggressive as wellprobably the same reason those gay team mates are happy to pack down with their religious team mates but don’t attend Hillsong with them.

Full credit to the boys - just not the gay boysI think that’s a bit of a stretch, mate. Threatening to boycott is also aggressive as well

Things like a pride jersey wouldn't have to exist if people like Marcelo Montoya didn't call someone a twig like it was the most awful insult you could hurl. If people weren't marginalised for who they are attracted to and do legally in the privacy of their own home. Etc etc
Same as Women in League round, Indigenous Round, etc. What's the difference? Because some players have an idol in the sky who apparently created the earth and all that is in it, but then apparently created something (gay people) that should not be permitted? Please.
South sydney should promote the easter jerseyExactly, it’s just a jersey. No one should be forced to wear it or lambasted if they choose not to.
If the league wanted to introduce special Easter round jerseys I wouldn’t expect any atheist or non-Christian players to wear such a thing. Would you?
No one is forced to. But if you want to play for Manly in this round, that's the jersey you wear. If you are such a homophobe, or a religious zealot that you believe the sky man needs you to hate gay people (that he created, ziiing), then sit this one out.Exactly, it’s just a jersey. No one should be forced to wear it or lambasted if they choose not to.
