You fly to East Coast often.
Without saying your private things like how much you pay.
Do you reckon it would be $3m to in theory send a 2nd tier team across to play games?

Assuming you find players to fill it that is
I’m backwards and forwards most months, at moment it’s around $600-700 a return flight if you book early enough, and $200 ish a night accomodation. So I guess if you’re sending 25 players and staff over with one nights accomodation it would cost nrl roughly $250k - $300k a season for each perth team. Paying for the away teams to come to perth as well you’re looking at $600k ish a year total for travel and accomodation for each season for each level.

So if we have a first grade side and and a reserve grade side your at $1.2million extra for travel and accomodation for perth teams and visiting teams costs, add in nrlw and that goes up depending how long their season ends up being.

NRL partnerships with Alliance Airlines (IIRC) and Accor Hotels should make a bit of a dent in the civilian pricing.

Definitely, I’m surprised there isnt an airline and hotel chain sponsorship link up with nrl to reduce some costs.

just checked out flight prices from Wellington and they are basically the same as perth so no extra costs which ever way nrl decides to go.

Im more suprised that the NRL doesnt have an official Airline Partner already. Of the clubs only the Warriors have an Airline Sponsor (Air New Zealand)

Typically international flights, regardless of the distance, are more expensive.

Just the administration alone, makes it that way.

And you can't just rock up to the gate with carry on 30mins before departure when flying to NZ also

NZ based. That is the home for the junior sides but the Islander support is everywhere in Sydney.

As for Hawaii well NRL wants that USA round 0 to happen, Samoa are popular over there. No reason they could fill Eden Park v Warriors too
Why are we conflating club with international?

The Tongan and Samoan fans create special occasions and atmospheres against Australia/New Zealand/England.

Where is the evidence that they want their national team treated as a club side? Or that they would respond well to a generic Pasifika identity imposed on them by the NRL?

Because it suits the anti-Perth narrative.

This very proposal is up and Running in Super Rugby, So the evidence is there to monitor how successful it is

Fiji have a side in the NSW lower tier
PNG have a team in the QLD lower tier

Neither is capable of hosting a full blown NRL side but given some people think Dolphins roster is average, Then players need to be top of the list in my thoughts moving forward because there isn't 36 NRL standard players just waiting to be signed

Warriors are a good test case to see what their costs are with lower grades in NSW.

Storm use buses mainly in SG Ball and Flegg, neither location can do that here

In other words it’s another conflated reason not to have a Perth side.

Where did I say that you dumb shit?

I literally asked someone who lives in Perth of the costs to see if it is viable, You don't think having team 18 be viable is important?

Oooo that’s a bit rude. Settle petal. I’m just following the trail of your never ending anti-Perth agenda. Tis obvious. Every excuse you can find.

Wow an extra 1.2 million in travel costs a year for a team in Perth

no wonder why the soccer and union side struggle

Setting up an isolated team in such an outpost is just poor planning

The Storm had a partnership with Alliance last year. Im told the NRL had a quiet "in-kind" partnership with Virgin - no cash, just service. Was never formally announced.

The plan pre-covid was to get sponsors in all areas, banking is Westpac, Cars are done. You'd think that would be next up

Indeed. Nobody else can manage it except all the other sports that have. You know. Like every other major sport.

The only strong sport there is afl

plus their base is in Melbourne so the travel times are less and it’s the middle of their heartlands

the other sports there have all struggled big time

Perth is five hours from the rugby league centre with no infrastructure or other league teams nearby

we might as well put an nrl team on the moon

No you are being a f**kwit and offering nothing to the discussion as usual.

I am one of the few on here in that supports a National Reserve grade comp because it allows Perth, NSW Country all of these sort of areas a way into NSW/QLD which currently doesn't exist.

It gets the systems in place to make these areas better prepared when expansion takes place
