I guess based on the missing 1million viewers from its peak? Where did they go?
The decline in total numbers is a FTA TV thing, not a "Rugby League" thing.

The metric that should be compared year on year is audience share of FTA.

As stated earlier, this is the new norm.

It really shouldn't be a shock.

I wonder if anyone on this forum watches FTA TV?

Only live sport such as Origin, GF etc.

Otherwise virtually never. Even on Wed night I was streaming Obi-Wan, and switched over to FTA at 8.10.

Last night, with no Footy on (which I normally stream on Kayo) it was "Whats on Netflix"?

That is same here. The few shows on FTA I watch is on the catch up service.

Lockdown was a real boom for those streaming services. It won't change anytime soon.

1 in 2 people who watched FTA on Wednesday. Watched SOO that is a huge achievement

Your tweet is written in loaded language to suggest that this is a bad thing.

Given the current state of FTA ratings this will easily be one of the highest rating broadcasts of the year.

And that's the only metric that counts.

My tweet is written to suggest that even with streaming included the ratings are lower than they used to be.

Its one of the highest rating broadcasts of every year. Id have said the same thing regardless of the sport.

I am trying to find it. you might have it. The ratings for those mega days? from Memory it was around 10m watching FTA.

4m for all of FTA now. Out of 25m people says more for the platform then the content

And those people won't watch just because another network is showing the game.
I think they will. The coverage and promotion of it are terrible.

same with the nrl coverage if ten or seven got it

nine is bleeding viewers to fox and kayo. People would rather pay to watch on fox than watch it on nine

That is delusional. There is zero evidence for these lost viewers

Pubs, Clubs were packed... TV Coverage has very little to do with whether someone watches these big events

Do you watch FTA?

" The steady decline of free-to-air has gathered pace in the past five years, with more and more streaming players such as Netflix, Binge and Stan entering the market, and commercial networks pouring more resources into their on-demand video channels to satisfy consumers’ demands to watch “whatever, wherever, whenever. "

That sums it up perfectly

47% of FTA viewers watched SOO. Great result

The figures are the new norm. The decline has been constant since more viewing options entered the market place
I was stating the pud pulling about it being the numb one TV show of the year ... in early June is a bit .. durrrish , these days. Origin 1 has been the number one show on TV at this time of year for over 30 years & while it used to be an impressive feat it is the norm now & is no longer worth bragging about.

We brag ( quite rightly ) when our code is the top dog at the end of the year above all else & the numb of shows we have in the top 10 all year ( sometimes top 5)

Some No1 show by June isn't worth worrying about?

You follow it up with a tweet saying the ratings are in decline.

You're not providing proper context when stating this. All FTA viewing is in rapid decline.

The audience share for the 2014 game, would be a more apt comparison.

What show will rate higher?

We are halfway through the year and RL has the highest rating show

Should they not celebrate that?

We always have the numb one show at this point of the year , that being my point . The aflol GF is the obvious choice to your first question & until its played lets keep our hands out of our Y fronts.
