Any issue in game the default take is either ch9's or PVL fault.
Nines coverage is abysmal

literally fox sports is getting close to getting more for its games on avg than nine

people would rather pay to watch it than watch it on nine

the other alternative is to allow streaming with fox. That would get back some of the lost viewers

Look at when 9 has games.

Friday. People watch the 6pm game and don't change.

Sunday is the same. It wouldn't matter what the FTA network does in such cases.

Also why Pay TV dollar is king

9's coverage is shit.

FTA TV audience are in precipitous decline.

Both of these can be true.

Which unfortunately makes historical comparisons impossible. Sport is still king that we know

No it makes your chosen data set unanavailable for comparison. The ratings system we use now was introduced in 2003, the numbers are down WITH streaming included. Audience share is irrelevant, people are either watching or they arent. There might be a general downturn in overall tv audience, but that doesnt answer the question as to why theyve stopped watching Origin.

They've stopped watching all forms of FTA is very much the answer to the question.

3M is the new norm for the top rating FTA shows.

Every other sport would kill to have 3 mid season matches that rate that highly.

And id give a damn, except this years ratings included streaming audiences - as they have since 2019.

And are still down. Try to spin it how you like, the audience is down for Origin on 2013.

Everything is down compared to 2013, it's all relative.

The 3 SOO games
NRL GF
AFL GF

Will still be the 5 highest rating shows on FTA like they were then

All will be way lower than back then though. The very fact is less on the platform.

No spin that is the reality with FTA TV at this moment.

Not the streaming people are actually watching though. More than ever NRL fans are watching the game on Kayo and on fox and not on 9 whether it's streamed or not.

Not for Origin.

The ratings system is flawed, always has been but we are getting less casuals viewing sport now with Stan etc. Every pub was packed. Every corporate event full. so it is just as popular

47% of the FTA market tuned into Origin. Until FTA TV as a whole get more viewers back this is where the numbers will sit for the major events

Take last years GF. It was up on prior years 3.23m watched it during lockdown. So you would think it drop slightly now we can go out and watch it

Wookie you sure about those average ratings ? Fox averaging more than nine including regionals ?

Its what the data showed last night. Ill be going over it again more thoroughly tomorrow, but on the face of it, yes.

Nines metro ratings havent been anything to write home about, and nine regionals arent what they used to be either. This figure didnt include BVOD though which averages another 30,000 per game.
