what the forum court jester fails to mention is that racistball had the 2 largest markets in Australia involved in its biggest game of the year & that game delivered the lowest ratings in history & .. it was also outrated by 3 games of RL this year

but lets not let facts get in the way of a wank eh clown ?

It is the nature of ratings these days really, reflects a very small number.
A flawed system

Exactly

shows how badly afls attempt at expansion really has gone

basically unless the swans / lions / giants / suns aren’t winning the grand final then their tv rating are minimal

reporting that more people in regional australia watched the racistball GF at 2pm on a saturday then watched the NRL GF at 8pm on a sunday is about as believable as saying more people watched the racistball GF in Sydney then Melb

its hogwash ...

well i mean its not the Grand Final is a once off. You've been whinging about the regional ratings for years, never mind that its in no ones interest to misrepresent them - not Oztam (which is part owned by Nine), and not the NRL - and I dont think Vlandys would sit there and allow the ratings to be misrepresented.
who said anything about mis rep resented
the system is gobble de gook

its tripe
period

How many boxes is there again?
Until they get more the system is out of date

The only solution is to drop all Sydney clubs to NSW Cup and replace them with one neutral team that isn't based on tribalism. I have no doubt it would be a success like the Broncos and lead to all NSWRL clubs becoming redundant like the BRL. People want to watch the highest level of the sport. North Sydney Bears went from getting 10k-12k in the NRL to less than 1k in the NSW Cup. NSWRL fans are not any more passionate than fans of the BRL or any other competition.

Yeah this is never ever going to happen. I don’t mind a discussion about relocation which is barely plausible but this happening is about as plausible as Clive Palmer becoming PM

Which is why the game will never reach its true potential.

We'll be lucky to get one or two teams to relocate.

and yet its the same system you guys will trumpet at any opportunity when it comes to TV ratings, despite them being collected by the same organisation and overseen by the same body, using the same methodology
A more accurate , efficient more representative system would only moreso show leagues dominance...
the current 12K boxes for 27 mill people showing league as the most watched sport in the country easily is about the only thing its got right fumbler

Good point

the afl had the two biggest tv markets in Australia in the grand final and still struggled to beat an all Sydney grand final in overall ratings

Would it though, Other suveys not reliant on TV boxes have shown otherwise over the years.

But if the regionals are so very very wrong, how do you any faith in the numbers at all.

the regionals numbers for both games were ... complete baloney

Sure. Now on what basis exactly? AFL regionals have trended up over the last 6 years, NRL regionals have trended down. This also coincided with the NRL and Nine moving its regional affiliation from WIN to SCA in 2016 and then back to WIN in 2021 - with WIN I believe having a wider coverage area.
