I didn't expect a PENRITH fan to lay it all on the refs in a desperate attempt to disassociate from the fact that PENRITH halves were absolutely garbage
They weren't good but the forwards lost the game.

Critter and 2poos mistakes were so dreadful

Not sure I agree with the bolded parts.

Hayne, Gallen and Farah all had their strengths but they were selfish players. Hayne won it for NSW in 2014 but lost it for them in 2017 when he chose to go for personal glory instead of a simple pass to an unmarked Morris to score, go into H/T up by more than 2 converted tries (after dominating the first 40 minutes) and psychologically crush Qld.

Those NSW teams had grit but less points in them than this current squad. They'd never put the kind of scores on Qld we've seen the last 2 series.

Origin kayfabe, of course, means that when Qld win with a debut squad or come out on top in a tight one like tonight it's all pashun spirit, players growing 10ft tall when they wear the maroon jersey etc etc like it's been since day 1. But when NSW win with a debut squad it's just "The Baby Blues staged an upset", when NSW win in a scrap it's not recalled with the same glowing praise for state passion.

Take tonight- there is a narrative evidently popular with some here about "NSW shitting the bed when it matters" or "lacking heart" when it really came down to a bunch of momentum-killing errors + an attempt at a clutch play from Cleary that backfired. On another night he gets it behind the Qld defenders, a NSW player gathers and scores and it's all Cleary is a genius, NSW have the mental edge on Qld yada yada yada
I don't know if anyone can say NSW lacked heart last night, I couldn't believe how good there on line defence was for most the 2nd half, I turned to my missus just before the Ponga try and said if we don't score here we don't deserve to win this, I tip my hat to the blues defence last night, if that was on out line I feel it would have been another blow out

What was Cleary meant to do when his team was pinned in their own half for most of the last 40?

it was guys like Tupou, Talakai, Crichton that led to NSW being pinned their with their errors. What can Cleary do?

DCE kicked QLD out of trouble multiple times last night nullifying massive defensive sets by the blues. He dragged them back into the game in that second half with an absolute tactical master class.

cleary is a flat track bully that is incapable of leading a team back into a game.

meninga said the kangaroos jumper was DCE’s to lose. Many laughed when he said it. This series proved him right and DCE will rightfully be playing 7 in the World Cup at the end of the year
