Souths came into this game with probably a few more injuries than they were prepared to let on. Also, they knew Penrith were fresher so they played their hand in the first 30 hoping to blow Penies off the park but fair play to Penrith who didn’t drop their bundle after having three tries disallowed. From there on, Souths were gassed.
A derby GF awaits us!

AJ not playing was a big blow as no one else was able to do the kick return work he usually does. Burgess not being available due to suspension, and then losing Arrow due to his groin injury meant their front rowers were going to do it tough.

Well it's been quite the ride for Souths. Understandably a slow start after Bennett and Reynolds leaving. The moment Latrell came back they started a run which would have exceeded their expectations and saw them in yet another prelim. Blew it just like the Cows did last night. They lost composure at the worst possible time and never got it back.
Still had a great season regardless and seeing Ilias come of age was great to see. Souths are in safe hands with Demetriou who handled the post Wayne hangover really well.

I agree with this. At 22, Illias has a lot more growth in him, and they made the right decision.
