But we're not "3 years in a row wooden spoon shit"......... That illustrious title is reserved for only the real shittest of the NRL organisations.

Agreed on the nostalgia point though, great times!
You won’t get any arguments here. We’re fantastic at being shit. All other teams pale in comparison.

Kick returns are one of the few things wingers have to do.
The fullback usually makes more than a winger. With Edwards at the back and To'o on a wing the other winger doesnt really need to be strong out of trouble. A bit of balance between speed and power in the back 3 is a good thing.

so have we won the war yet?
go over to ClowncoHQ on the game day thread if you wanna have a good laugh. The emotional roller coaster ride some were experiencing from start to finish of the game is a beautiful read

Given how much more is required from fullbacks than wingers, it's more realistic to let your fullback be the one to be weaker at hit ups. You can always find a powerful winger, but finding a fullback who can work hard, read the play, defuse the majority of attacking kicks and attack in the spine is hard enough without also expecting him to make a lot of hit ups. There are only a couple of Tedesco/Trbojevic level fullbacks in the game, and they are incredibly expensive.

Balance is different in every squad. Edwards strengths suit our squad at the back more so than Staines. He gets us a good start to most sets on his returns and is one of the best in the game at organising the defence. He is a bit of a handbrake once we are inside the opposition 20, but you cant have everything. I assume his pay cheque reflects his limitations as well. Imo we should have kept Laurie and let Staines go if the fullback position was up for grabs. Staines is a decent winger, but nothing I've seen so far makes me thing he will ever be even a servicable fullback.

Trust me I was the same. Our download speeds last year were 100mb/s, as I would always check because I knew what was coming. No other internet devices being used & it would still suffer buffering 5-10 times per half.
I swapped from Foxtel Cable on the iQ3 to Foxtel IPTV on iQ5. The picture quality on the sports channels of iQ5 last night was very poor, but fine on the other linear channels.

Flogboysstampede had a few reaching for a bit of rope too, until the Cows got their complimentary set of penalties and a few non forward pass calls

Yep, Edwards is the poster child for not needing an elite fullback to win a premiership.
I'd put him as elite on one side of the ball. What you need at the back really depends on the rest of the side. We survived the finals gauntlet last year on defence. He is a massive part of that. It's the shithouse attack that most people notice though. In saying that he carries the ball strongly and breaks plenty of tackles, good support player too. Just being made of glass and the creativity of a pot plant lets him down.
