But those same players will appeal for a caught behind and then not use a challenge when the umpire turns it down.

I know it is a bit of a mixed up analogy because here there was a challenge, but isn’t this a similar situation?ie you are appealing for something you are not 100% sure about?
I'm no expert but I believe a fielding team must appeal before the umpire can give a batsmen out, unless the batsman walks.

Both players were contesting for the ball after the short kick off, ran into each other, Kyle Feldt falls over after the collision, Daine Laurie takes clean possession = play on until siren and West Tigers victory. Not sure why Ashley Klein saw it differently?

For mine, when it all comes out in the wash, this judgement call will be the actual controversy.

For mine it was wrong

Once everyone has calmed down, they'll all come to the realisation that it was a correct penalty. The player who escorted the Cows winger had eyes for him, and cost the team the game, and I have looked at it a few times. The player who gave away that pen should be dropped for next weekend IMO. It is a very bitter pill to swallow, but at least it was a great improvement.
Your eyes are obviously painted on.

That was the worst reffing I’ve seen in any sport ever.

I genuinely believe there needs to be a full investigation into Klein’s finances. There is too much money being gambled on this sport for this to just keep getting chalked up to poor decision making

Why are the referees for games published? I've never understood why anyone needs to know who is reffing each game? Opens the game up to corruption and also allows coaches to design gameplans to manipulate the referee.

We can all assume why without stating it, there's two reasons

It's not just cheating from Kyle Feldt, it's also cheating by the ref on the field and the ref in the bunker, it just looks so bad.

I can excuse Feldt though, every team has a player who tries to pull those stunts, the NRL are going to have to be outstanding in the way that they explain this.

I cannot wait to hear Annersley explain that one.
Yet here we are complaining about soccer players taking dives and laughing about it, at least the Soccer officials have cracked on to players that have tried to milk for penalties or free kicks.

There would be a lot of games going to court, if it was based solely on a fans judgement of a player "diving" and a referee "cheating"

Well the referee did cheat here though, he cheated when he allowed the Cowboys to challenge. They were allowed to challenge on a non-call, with the next action in the game either being Tigers ball until full-time or full-time. This hasn't been allowed since the inception of the captain's challenge. You can only challenge when there is to be a restart of play, to my understanding.

My gut tells me the ref lost his mind in that moment and made a howler in allowing them to challenge, then Ashley Klein said "Hey Chris, hold my beer, this is how you make a real howler".

A normal part of the modern game ?

I take your point about diving but the players try it on in so many ways every match

It’s up to the refs to make the calls
Very true, I get that hunger to win can get in the way of sportsmanship. We will only see a stop to the diving if the refs correctly adjudicate it. Their decision today will only encourage it.

In any case, I've lost some respect for devon Feldt as an athlete.
