Exactly right - they've completely shut up shop when it comes to anything lower than the state comp and the damaging effect is in full play. The sheer hide of not allowing Belrose to be fed from Glebe is just baffling. Relegating 'major' competitions to some third-rate website that is an eyesore for updates is just insulting. Seems all the NSWRL are interested in is lining their wallets, which can be assumed from that board meeting last week and the collision of ego.
Does anyone have any insight as to why they wouldn't allow a Glebe/Belrose feeder?

I know its early but does anyone think St Marys wont do the double this year?
I think your right, they should dominate. Maybe Silktails can be a threat in Massey, they are a fully subsidised semi professional team but may lack experience and skill development .

Round 1 coming up this week - have heard chatter (completely unconfirmed, so every chance I could be wrong) we won't be getting teamlists on Tuesday as has generally been the case in the past.

Not surprising. A few weeks ago NSWRL put out their tuesday lists but the link to Country championships showed no teams inserted and so far they have gone in on game day.

With a revenue of $36million it does make you wonder where NSWRL spend the money!
If you know they make $36 million in revenue, you've looked at their Annual Report and therefore know how how the $33-34mil they spent in 2021 is divvied up:

The biggest ones are
- 11mil on referee & gamedays
- 10.8mil on employee
- 5mil on development projects
- 1.6mil on sponsorship
- 1.2mil on occupancy
- 944k on professional services
- 862k on deprecitation and amoritisation

I certainly agree the treatment of these lower grade competitions is poor, but surely even you are above such wantaway remarks like this when they're so easily accounted for?

Yes I saw the expenditure lines, but as you well know they have little detail to what is actually being spent on what.

My understanding was that the NRL pulled all development officers back under NRLHQ in 2013. Is that still the case? If so what is the 'Employees $10.8mill' covering? Also occupancy, ho wmany staff does the NSWRL have that requires them to have accommodation costing $1.2mill?

You would think that a few thousand of the $10.8 million could be allocated to minimum standard production of team lists etc.

What businesses go into this level of detail re finances? They're a private organisation remember, they don't owe anyone that info beyond regulatory reporting.

You can't just assume they're wasting it because you don't know where it's been allocated - especially when you're basing it on some very broad assumptions.

Sure - but it's not just down to NSWRL for that - it relies on clubs submitting properly and at that level it's not exactly elite level salaries etc?

I had a feeling we'd be losing team lists when they migrated to the new site. Very sad if it turns out to be true.

I like to see the team lists, but the Tuesday lists for RM and SS (Even though they can be a good read) are often meaningless due to players coming in from feeder clubs

That is it. NRL sides name 24 on Tuesday. NSW Cup can name 20 so you in theory have 7 players coming back down.

So its all agreed it is absolutely great that no one knows who is playing.

Times change. In 1990 when the NSW employed people who cared about the game, the Metropolitan Cup squads, including train on lists, for all the clubs, were published in the Sydney Morning Herald in the week leading up to the first game of the season.

NRL clubs have no involvement then

When teamlists are dependent on NRL clubs it makes it difficult

They've been dependent on NRL clubs for as long as I've been following this competition and it's never been an issue.

Sure, a team may change but it's better than having no idea what the teams look like heading into round one this weekend.

ITs a flow on Cup is dependent on NRL, RM is dep on Cup and SS on RM and throw in Flegg too

I think the new rule with Cup and Flegg having to be covid tested within 3 hours has caused a change to things and making the unknown even more unknown. Lets hope the team lists are there on game day
