Burton will demand 1 million a season. Edwards half that.
Burton has 2yr contract with a 3rd in his favour. That means end of this season he can negotiate. I beleivr he signed for dogs for around 600k mark. No way is he taking up his option he will go to market. Unless Dogs upgrade him for this season, next amd 2023 to around the 800k mark.
The thing is so many sides need a 1 million dollar playmaker. Side likes Penrith,Storm,Parra,Roosters,Manly,Souths have their halves.
There is atleast 6-8 clubs who do not and all will throw their hat in the ring for him out of desperation.
I wouldn't be suprised if a side like Titans,Cowboys,Brisbane or Dolphins had some sort of 5 yr deal north of 1.1 mill ready and waiting. I'm unsure of negotiating processes and I realise that clubs can't talk untill a certain date but I dare say manager would be aware of deals in the pipeline.

Just like Mahoney leaving. I dare say the Dogs had already contacted management and said hold off till Nov 1. We have a huge offer. It isn't always the clubs fault to lose a player.

Burton may do well at the Dogs. I feel like Brisbane would be his best move. They will be back on top soon enough.
As always Hindy, a well thought out contribution.

I agree the Broncs would be a good option; just a bit disappointing from Burton’s perspective that this would mean only a year or twos overlap with Reynolds. Would be great for his development to play alongside a half like that for a few years.

Burton could be a better 6 than Luai. I doubt he proves it though. He joined a shit heap team with a terrible coach, terrible hooker and no genuine half to partner him.

He will no doubt show glimpses of brilliance. But i can't see him outperforming Luai with all the disadvantages he will now have.
Having watched Penrith for too many years, one of my serial frustrations is our penchant for selling the now for a promise of the future. Historically we have got rid of the established for the hope the shiny new thing realises their potential. Let me give you the tip; it very rarely happens; if you are not in a good system with quality players around you invariably you don’t live up to your potential (the flip side is true and one of the reasons why the talents coming through at the Storm rarely fail).

One of the things I have loved about Cleary’s time at Penrith has been the focus on now; we are in the proverbial window now, so let’s maximise our chances. He seems to have done that, produced stability at the key points of the roster, while still bringing players through.

One last thought though; the above might suggest that I think Burton has more upside than Luai. I think Luai has everything in his locker to be something really, really special, and as others have mentioned, he is a great foil for Nathan. I think Burton could be a good half too, but I see his upside as being a thinking mans Jack Wighton. I see his future in the back row, as he is going to be a good size and is a devastating ball runner. Who knows, he might develop into a Yeo style lock.

But I definitely wouldn’t swap him for the one we have now…

I agree. I think Burton will become a Wade Graham style of back-rower.
I also think that Luai complements Cleary far better than Burton. Cleary being an organised box ticker needs someone with flair beside him.

Same Ivan Cleary coached and disciplined team. I was almost bored by our competency. Manly are shit, after the refs let one of our tries stand they were done for the night, they just there for Tommy to run over shit defenses for the news highlights. We got lazy the once in defence on the halfway and just before halftime, don’t care, if it was a worthy opponent I don’t think it happens.

If Edwards can manage to play a whole season he will break at minimum the record for most meters in a season but probably tackle breaks too.

Kikau is a ducking beast, rips in with every run and fully f**ks at least one opposition set a match by driving merkins back. Massive loss.

When I’m home I will gif the Crichton f**k up of the 2 on 1 pass under minimal pressure and the failed Staines 50/50 try chance. I’d rather not because it takes up time which would be better used jerking off to camgirls, but I know I’m needed here to supply the special needs team of blind f**ks with rugby league comprehension.

Oh and why are you f**ks talking about the bulldogs here for f**k’s sake? They haven’t even played yet. Some of you are f**king psychos with this shit.

5 tries to 1 like Thurs night
Hopgood played 80 mins. Nothing bad was quiet in attack
Turuva was the standout. Scored a great try
Luke great try. Played 75mins looked very good

I said all last year that turuva was a star. He is a very special player. As i said last year, hes very physically developed for his age and has that typical fijian build and just looks very strong.

Hes definitley a specialist #1 but he could easily play wing. If they want him playing centre hed need to spend half a year there in cup. I know he played centre in schoolboys for st pats and carved up but he basically hasnt played there for panthers so would need some reps there.
Im sure he will get a crack in the nrl this year at some point.

If the passing and kicking continue to develop then fullback. I agree centre is probably his spot

I think hes an out an out fb. Hes always looked better back there than anywhere else.

If they want him to play centre than he should be playing there.

The results of nsw cup at the end of the day dont mean much and that team should be based around an idea of the future.

For me the way i see things regardless to where "they may have played, or can play"....

At nrl if they get there i only see these guys as..
Turuva is a fb or wing
Tiny wing
Jenkins....wing if he even gets to nrl standard.

Puru looks legit and is similar to luai. For me he has to be the smokey for a 14 role in the coming years. Can fill in for the backs and probs play 9 giving his passing, kicking and running game.

I dont think theres to many others on the horizon for the next 12 to 24 months for a backline spot.

Tmays probs first in line.
Turuva i think will get his chance
Jenkins is probs 12 months away from a sniff but i cant see it with him.
Puru is an exciting prospect. Especially with luai and nath playing origin now. I think hes a smokey for a debut earlier than we think.

Too early to look at the positions locked in

May, Jenkins missed trials and you fit them in where you need to

Not sure where Puru sits in NSW Cup full strength 17. Long term we need a centre or hooker

I disagree.. i dont really see it as too early to lock players into a position. I just see it as the position they are most likely to be able to play. At least in the initial years of their careers.

Tiny is really a winger. Jenkins can play both but i think hes more a winger and turuva is a fb.

Its not locking them in...its just the positions they are best at. To suggest or try get them to play nrl in other positions would only put more pressure on them, with the execption of maybe turuva pmaying wing as thats probs less pressure than fb obviously.

Same applies to Puru. Hes an out an put 5/8.. id continue to play him there. And thats where he will play in cup.

But theres no reason why he couldnt be a 14 in the future. Has all the skills.

NSW Cup changes week to week though

Take Puru

He played today but Falls and O'Sullivan are in Full time squad. Who misses out for him to stay 6?

Chris just take a chill pill. Fans are having a conversation about the footy. It was a good positive start to our season I don’t understand why you always feel the need to be so aggressive in a negative manner.
