NSW Cup changes week to week though

Take Puru

He played today but Falls and O'Sullivan are in Full time squad. Who misses out for him to stay 6?

Falls does.

Sos is a 7.

As is falls. Cant be playing them both together..sure might get a few wins at cup level but it wont achieve anything if nath and luai make SOO and they are required to fill in.

Itll be luai and burton all over again.

Play a proper 7 and a proper 6.

The clubs obviously put faith in Sos and puru is a goer and an actual 6.

Falls can play 14 in cup or ron massey

So Puru can only play FG if Luai is out? That is crazy

What about if Staines gets injured Turuva can't fill in?

What are you talking about??

Puru like i said i think is a smokey for the 14 in the coming years. He has speed, skill and serious x factor. Hes a 6 but hes skills would allow him to have an allround role. Similar to tyrone but with speed..

Playing a fb on the wing as in turuva is a lot lot lot different to playing two out and out 5/8s together.

How does he become a 14 if he only plays 6 though?

He needs to play other positions to be suitable to be a 14

@Iamback How big does Lisati look? Would be nice to see him move up to cup later in the year.

Mason has always been a quality prospect playing half or hooker, bit small so will take longer to develop but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him kick on, probably will need to leave to get opportunities tho.

Niwhai Puru will spend some time backing up Luai next year I’d say, not sure he can other positions but he is very talented wouldn’t surprise me. His brother is quality to but playing in the pack probably won’t kick on as quickly.

Turuva destined for big things I’d like to see him be the next winger up. T may is good to but Tito seems a class above.

The Flegg side is huge but Lisati reminded me of Frank Pritchard size wise. I would too but the side is stacked so might not get his chance.
1st time I saw him play long minutes. A few lazy misses in defence but attack was dangerous every touch. Like everyone a few weeks he will get even better

Mason looks too small to be made a 14 or anything then hooker. I want to see him in Cup before ruling it out

Given Puru can't play NRL this year SOS/Falls should get preference. Depending on injuries/NRL call ups I would slot Puru in other roles. He may turn into a gun centre or hooker given NRL halves are taken.

Turuva would of been my pick over Staines on trial form. Given the result only injury will change the side. He should be next back up. Although Jennings was good more upside to May or Turuva

I think Niwhai has a reserve grade contract which means he can play fg after the rule change last year, not expecting that though sos and falls will be the back ups.

Should be some spots open up in the cup side for Lisati if he keeps going well around origin or if we get some injuries, sounds like the type of prospect you find room for assuming he keeps going well in flegg.

After Round 11 or something but I thought you needed to have no one available in the FT squad to fill that position. So unlikely as a half he will get needed

3 guys that played in the NRL trial v the Sharks played for Flegg.
Another couple I thought were good v Parra are with St Marys. Also Mav and Riki to come in

Hard to judge because of lack of 2nd tier footy if Ivan goes young guy route. Hook would go the kids hopefully Ivan follows that path

Which the make up of NSW Cup has zero to do with

What it does do is prepare young guys to replace the talent we are losing
But is does though. Having a robust playing system and winning across all the levels of the club is important. Having NSW Cup players walk into a winning NRL side helps them to be comfortable and develop (just ask the Melbourne Storm), and the same can be said for NSW Cup and Flegg.

We are going to go through a period around SOO when we will need to rely on NSW Cup players to provide depth to our NRL efforts. At ye same time this will give the Flegg team players a chance to progress.

It is just another example of this forum looking for something to flog Ivan with. Let Momo go with a view to promoting youngsters and the keyboard warriors are up in arms that he doesn’t have a clue, but at the same time people on here complain he doesn’t play the kids. Sometimes it feels like some of the fans on here drink the News Ltd, anti-Ivan KoolAid.

What was anti Ivan about my post?

Jersey Flegg is strong
St Marys are strong

Both feed into NSW Cup. Both sets of players are options going forward we will win NSW Cup regardless

It is called conversation. It isn't a bagging just a discussion

We lose Kikau
Api

Have
Salmon
C.Crichton
Hopgood
C.Smith
Jennings
L.Smith
Blacker

All off contract. Likely to be replaced from players within the system. The crux of the discussion was how to best proceed later in this year to get the squad the best chance over coming years

Did Ivan make the Momo decision? Doubtful

He certainly didn't make the May decision

You can discuss decisions the club made without it being a criticism of Ivan

He certainly had no say in lack of lower grades leaving us with questionable depth

I agree. I think Burton will become a Wade Graham style of back-rower.
I also think that Luai complements Cleary far better than Burton. Cleary being an organised box ticker needs someone with flair beside him.

Burton’s hand and kicking skills are better than Graham’s. He might end up in the back row towards the end of his career, but I’m pretty confident he’ll predominately be a half. There‘s a lack of good halves as well.

I thought Momirovski wanted to play for the Roosters as his junior club or something.
