again, thats not correct according to Mclachlan who stated that the cash component was over 4 billion in the presser. (571m pa+)

I posted the story from Code ( News Limited) with quotes from Patrick Delaney, that with the ch7 release gives you the amount

I see so you add Telstra - who dont have any rights at all - to the NRL deal, but you havent added them to the AFL deal where they actually have rights.

Ill play. Telstra have just renewed for 90m until 2027 for NRL/NRLW naming rights - thats 18m a year, and about what the AFL gets now for Toyota until 2023. (The AFL has another naming rights partnership with NAB for AFLW)

So I can add the money Toyota pay for naming rights to the AFL deal now can I? Thats another 18m a year until the end of 2023. I mean since we're all focussed on equality and all

Media rights - both organisations have unspecifed contra.

NRL
2023 "over 400m" +18m Telstra
2024 "over 400m" + 18m Telstra
2025 "over 400m" + 18m Telstra
2026 "over 400m" + 18m Telstra
2027 "over 400m" + 18m Telstra

AFL
2023 473m + 18m Toyota +2-3m NAB
2024 473m
2025 643m
2026 643m
2027 643m
Actually further adjustment is needed. The NRL $400k deal includes radio rights, but the the new AFL deal doesn’t. Need to add around $20m per year for the AFL radio deal which was done separately.

news limited posted before the presser with an update afterwards that didnt change the earlier amount. News have been doing this with articles for ages now and its quite infuriating.

Again. Mclachlan himself said live in the presser than the cash component was north of 4 billion.

I think the nRL deal is only for radio rights applicable to Nines radio group. Im not sure whether there arent more to come.

They could try for a second Brisbane team with this sort of coin but financially it would still be a disaster. Up until they started winning a season or so ago the Lions had been a financial black hole for over a decade in Brisbane and are only still around from constant propping up to the tune of millions of dollars every year from AFL coffers.

Even when winning their ratings are abysmal in Queensland. Here's hoping the Dolphins removing potential sponsors from the market make any new team in Brisbane just that much harder for the AFL tossers and when the Lions stop winning again makes the AFL have to divert some of these new found riches to again propping up the Lions as well as the Suns and GWS.
Mate there will be around a $450million total revenue gap by 2025. With $450million a year more than us they can do whatever they like and pss away as much as they want on expansion and still have money to do other stuff we can’t.

Don’t worry we’ll bring back the Bears and play a few games at NSO instead. That will bring the corporate money.
that was what was really depressing. On the day that we got his news then I read that allegedly bears reckon they have the 18th club sewn up with 4 games a year at nso. We are so fcked!

Whoever started it, moderators need to keep on top of it, otherwise this forum becomes disorganized. Btw, congrats on the media rights deal. You have an independent commission that knows what it's doing.
Wasnt Wookies doing. I tried my best and started an afl v nrl rights deal thread in fight club but wb and others can’t help themselves but talk about afl so I gave up and joined the party here!

Ch9 breakdown here.

Fox was $290m and $22m contra

$409m cash.
Nope it is $402mill inc contra

skynz $32.4mill
ch9 $130mill (15 contra)
fox $240mill

Total contra will be in the region of $30mill leaving $370mill ish cash

The NRL have announced that revenue from the game's three broadcast partners - Nine, Fox Sports and Sky NZ - will total more than $400m per annum for five years from 2023 until 2027.

Thats a fair call. But naming rights is a major component of the deal.

I have no idea who Jon Ralph is but this is his breakdown on the Code App

$550m Fox/Seven. $3.85b in cash and contra

(Seven confirmed a 14 % jump. So these figures seem more realistic)

With additional Revenue from Telstra for the AFL live app. Taking the deal past $4b

Telstra run the NRL app too but also a sponsor which makes comparison hard

The good news is if Ch9/Stan are willng to bid $2.5b over five years on AwFuL then there's no reason we cannot ask them to give us at least that much to get away from Foxtel. They'll need content in 2027, so whoever is leading our game will need to tell the bastards to pay up big time or piss off. I'd demand at least $3.5b over five years ($700m pa) for the lot in a take it or leave it offer.
