a young player signs a contract when hes a prospect , turns out to be a gun
wants to be rewarded in the life of the contract he signed when he was a prospect
happens all the time

what foxtel will get in return for honoring the verbal agreement to look after the NRL for taking less during covid & when they were able to ( which is now ) is getting a fair run at the 28-32 deal

if its no to looking after the NRL now
then the NRL's response to that 2nd bit will be the same ...... no
totally stupid comparison but to play the game you would say the club are getting a much better player in return for the more money they are now willing to pay than when he was starting out.
I'm still to think of a renegotiation that doesn't involve the entity whose agreeing to pay more getting something in return!
Time will tell but you dont have a good track record on being right in this topic area lol.

oh I'll have the record in the end dopey

this was Vlandys play the entire time
let those fumbling fools set the bar , the higher the better ..........

then go after the broadcasters for a similar deal off the back of his ace up the sleeve ( a verbal undertsanding with the foxtel ceo)
the onging partnership on the line.... being the tension to get what we want.

Vlandys
a f**king genius ...😎

haha, are you drunk or delusional? If you think Vlandys is going to get them to stump up a $160mill gap with Fox AFTER signing on the dotted line I want a pint of whatever you are on!
You're denial in this situation is admirable, if not a little tedious. Its ok to say, sorry guys I was wrong and he fcked this up big time. We wont judge you too harshly, not everyone is good at reading people, many get sucked in by the Donald Trumps of the world. Nothing to be too ashamed of.

It’s kinda funny so many people would believe gill the dill when he’s been shown to fudge figures previously

afl clubs still are receiving less than nrl clubs receive from their governing body plus we are making ever increasing profits

and now the game is investing in hard property assets

everywhere you look in afl land it’s a sea of red ink

after the season gws had the afl probably had to put in over 30 million to keep them afloat

taking our covid costs and full houses at origin our profits should be even better this year

Did they, really? I dont think anyone thought Giants would be an instant or even medium term success. It was team nobody was asking for in an area no one wanted them. If they can eventually carve out a market share remains to be seen. And guess what, it certainly hasn't harmed their tv negotiations has it?!
Reality is they are saturated in their home markets so to increase their content for sale and expand their national footprint an perception as national sport Qlnd and Sydney were obvious choices, particularly given how well the Swans and Lions have done.
It has helped them get record sponsorship deals and record Tv deals so spending $50-60mill on them is nothing.
To be honest the Lions have struggled with nearly ten years of losses till just recently and are only still around because of substantial bail outs from the AFL. Their ratings after all this time in Brisbane are still pretty abysmal compared to the Broncos.

yea nah
like most things with the soap dodger

thats BS

I’m interested. Tell me how you think V’Landys is going to make or force News Limited to pay the NRL say $150 -$200m more per annum based on what is described in the press as a ‘believed mutual understanding’ to ‘revisit the contract’. Firstly, a believed mutual understanding wouldn’t cut any type of mustard in any type of court room because you couldn’t define it. Believed by whom? V’Landys? Who else was in the meeting? Do they believe in it as well? Is it a mutual belief?

Secondly, revisiting could mean anything. It could mean something like revisiting a particular condition in a contract. It could mean something like we’ll give you an extra $30 million. If, conversely, it was in writing that we couldn’t be x percentage less than fumbleball then yeah definitely it would be well done V’Landys.

But he didn’t have it in writing. Pretty much like he didn’t with the NSW Government and low he has been played again.

They did have a few years of losses and last three years of profit, not that that was the point, the point was revenue generation and the fact they have much greater revenue in a big city than nrl clubs in smaller populations.

I’m sure he’ll be using all his negotiation skills to convince them, like he did with the nsw govt lol
