Nah if there is a problem with RL, Always is blame ch9
There can be more than one party to blame.

Channel 9 wanted the match earlier because they want England v Australia in the Cricket on the primary channel and of course want to protect their precious 6pm news timeslot.

NZRL stuffed up with pricing and promotion. The ends of the ground sold okay, but having the top category at NZD90 (and having no Child/Concession/Family pricing) and having similar for the next two being similar in the current economic climate, in an area like Hamilton, was always going to make it harder.

The fact the NZRL doesn't really have a marketing team would only compound that.

NZ started playing in the WC pretty much when the game ended, Though that would be more why that slot was chosen

The pricing is a fair point, Though test footy is trying to get its footing after Covid, We are a few seasons from that

Yeah Ive never seen a NZ/Aus test crowd like that, let alone a championship final. Really awful, not sure if its the location, lack of promotion, ticket prices, this is an insult to International Rugby League.
International rugby league is an insult to its self, one true professional comp in the world, super league is semi, second best country has a population of 5 million and prefer union, players swapping allegiances like kids swapping cards, pathetic crowds, an AFL World Cup wouldn’t have much less credibility, it’s painfully obvious our players couldn’t give a flying f**k about it.

I have just been informed the Australian Rugby League team will be hosting a 3 match test series against the Inuit tribes of the Arctic, Australian selection will begin when they work out those with Pacific Islander heritage feel like being an Australian for a few weeks, many Polynesian players have also expressed interest in playing for the Inuit’s if the price was right, the series starts in December, the AFL are said to be green with envy :(

The Inuit tribes made history recently when it was revealed one of the tribe watched a RL game many, many years ago or knew someone who had, this set in motion an invitation to play in the RLWC of which they are on the 3rd line of betting along side Gaza.

It has also been confirmed Milli Vanilli will spearhead the HT entertainment, the singing/dancing duo will lip sync ‘Simply The Best’ they also expressed interest in taking the field as players if an opportunity presented, Milli said he would love the opportunity to play ‘Hooker’ while Vanilli expressed interest in playing as his wingman’ but it is unclear if either of them know what the role entails.

*Update*
The Inuit tribes are now second favourite for the World Cup replacing Australia on the second line of betting, a remarkable feat considering the Inuit tribes have never played a game before.

Vatican City have also firmed in betting markets, instead of doing a NZ style Haka Vatican City give a 45 minute sermon, this puts their opponents to sleep giving the Vatican a distinct advantage.

Regards, Intentcity.

The scheduling of this comp has been awful as has the choice of stadia

the opener should’ve been aus vs nz

aus vs nz playing two weeks in a row was stupid

after the kiwis got thumped the week before it killed sales for the final

selling the stand that doesn’t face the camera was a rookie error from the nzrl

and people saying it should’ve been in Australia nz are entitled to a test at home

mt smart would’ve sold out for this

They made the mistake of having the full stand behind the camera and the empty stand in front of the cameras, the stadium would have looked full if they swapped the stands, like what they did in Melbourne last week.

Regardless it was still a poor crowd, the organisers would have learnt alot in regards to pricing and promotion, with a NZ win ( who saw that coming? ) and Tonga being part of next year's tournament it should get much better support.

Test footy feels like an afterthought. Played post season where there is no hype. The final was played on a Saturday afternoon in a suburban ground that looks like Penrith.
Australia looked like a team that was ready for the holidays.

Meanwhile Origin is played mid season, prime time Wednesday night with all the hype and build up. And the games are played in the major stadia. By comparison, Test footy is treated as second rate.

It was a decent start

it will grow
It is we rushed this year because the cba dragged on for so long and they also are focusing on Vegas

nz smashing Australia had meant the first weird gets off with a bang

next year we need Tonga and samoa here

that’s where the rivalry will come from

The problem is the smashing is essentially meaningless

To me it just feels like both had a warm up against samoa and then played a 2 test series with one match each at home and drew 1-1

Yeah NZ received whatever trophy they came up with but who really gives a shit about that?

Kiwis need more home tests

it’s no wonder both teams won at home

the choice of Eden park and Hamilton was just stupid

they could’ve picked north harbour stadium in Auckland
Hamilton wasn't a bad choice to be fair, poor marketing and pricing in a recession after a heavy loss...
If they played like that the previous week it would have sold out twice.

Final in Auckland was a must

Hamilton could’ve got the pool game

and they choose eden park for samoa vs nz and not the warriors final which would’ve sold it out

organisation for this tournament was poor
