That’s actually a pretty lousy round for crowd potential, the two ANZAC day games and the QLD derby will have to do the heavy lifting.

The Darwin game is down to General Admission only (they're even selling discounted tickets to ADF veterans). Meanwhile in Melbourne the Clubhouse seats are sold out, Diamond, Gold and the Away supporters bay are down to single seats only. Not sure which bays are closed as part of the ongoing upgrades though which might drag the attendance down. The big surprise though is the Wests v Manly game, not a lot of reserved seats left (the club might be holding some seats back from sale) but if that's not the case, it'll be the surprise of the round

Agreed. They’ll play 2 games there per year? I’m hoping they have a plan to upgrade it to 25k with 2032 free funding

Judging by them getting 23k on a Thursday night against a Sydney club, maybe they’ll want to reconsider playing any games there after this season.

It must be holds, Wests aren't playing well enough for a big local turnout and Manly fans aren't travelling in big numbers to Sydney's south-west.

I don't understand why they would be holding so many bays though, CSS is one of those older grounds where there are no cost saving benefits only opening part of the ground.

I wouldn’t try to apply logic to any decision relating to the West Tigers right now.

I've got no problems with a small crowd at the tigers game. Non attendance is one of the few ways that ordinary fans can show that they're fed up with the decision makers at the club.

It's 2 weeks away but the Broncos v Rabbitohs game is already selling tickets on the 7th level in 2 different categories.

Usually, you only see them open up level 7 this early for Broncos v Cowboys games. Should get at least 35k+, could possibly crack 40k.

Yeah this is good signs. The sideline lower corners aren't selling great and should be changed to the corner pricing. I think the ends of level 6 might be too.

Hopefully we get really good media coverage - I'd love JD to come out and be a flog and bleat on about not getting the coaching gig/ Jai Arrow or Latrell calling Adam Reynolds a tattooed garden gnome etc etc.

I know we’ve all said it a thousand times already this year, but far out the attendances have been spectacular. I’ve held off commenting til this round cause as yak storm mentioned this wasn’t a ‘special event’ round as such yet we’ve averaged 20k for it. I reckon we’re almost in uncharted territory for the nrl.
The big challenge for us die yards is to not get ahead of ourselves (which I’ve been trying so hard not to do) and understand that things are gonna drop away eventually. It’s just been such an incredible start that it’s hard not to get swept up in it. The quality of the footy alone is enough to keep us coming back for more.
Imagine if my team weren’t a complete shambles!! The fact people are talking about the possibility of 10k or more for our game this week shows the mood that’s around. I don’t like
The chances though, there’s only so much we can take!

I wonder we are starting to see the benefits from the promotion of memberships about 10 years ago (with a blip from 2020 - 2022 due to covid)
Are there more season ticket holders now and even ticket holders for 1 - 5 matches. As well as non-ticketed members being properly marketed to now

Then you have the old suburban grounds like Brookie, Shark Park and Leichhardt who are not all seater. Even if those grounds look full, in the end a crowd of 15,000 is posted, which seems like the capacity limit.

I would love for the NRL to save money, and then build it's own 25,000 or 30,000 capacity stadium to suit two or three teams. Another new stadium will help to increase crowds. But also you don't need to fix up two or three suburban grounds.

Plus the game would have an asset and look more professional.

Absolutely no chance there's more than 12-14k on Thursday night. The people have spoken, no-one outside us tragics want to go Homebush on a work night.

Brain dead scheduling to have both Panthers v Rabbitohs match ups in the first 8 rounds and both on Thursday nights.

one idea I heard that I did like was for the NRL to build a modern indoor rectangular stadium in Sydney
Optimise it for broadcasting (lighting, camera angles) and corporate facilities and capacity might only be 10,000.

Play 2 or 3 Sydney team home game there every round to a full house (great views, no weather impacts). Would also have the best TV action

Location could be somewhere like Homebush (hopefully with improved transport links soon)

The Bulldogs wanted to play out of Liverpool. The Tigers could also play half their games there and the other half at the SFS.
