The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

one idea I heard that I did like was for the NRL to build a modern indoor rectangular stadium in Sydney
Optimise it for broadcasting (lighting, camera angles) and corporate facilities and capacity might only be 10,000.

Play 2 or 3 Sydney team home game there every round to a full house (great views, no weather impacts). Would also have the best TV action

Location could be somewhere like Homebush (hopefully with improved transport links soon)
we're not the Oi league or stupor wugby
10K ... capacity... is not big enough for any NRL game ..... we should not be limiting ourselves

it would be more like a premium event to promote the sport generally
not married to the idea - but would be the sort of venue that the NRL should build if they went down that path

Surely every game can be treated as an event , we're heading in that direction
NRL games are becoming events that people want to attend , want to be seen at

clubs & the NRL can wine & dine the pointy end of town in our present venues like Allianz , Commbank & Accor
& we maintain the pressure on the govt to replace or improve the other grounds

Shark park
Leichardt
Campbelltown
Brookvale
Penrith

so the clubs that play there can too

I prefer a ground to have a 20,000 capacity minimum.

Getting back to crowds, the intro of the Dolphins inserted an added touch of mystique to the competition ,and as a result IMO seemed to spur more people in wanting to get involved by attending, by watching.
Throw in the new Sydney stadiums that people actually want to attend in large numbers, where the saying build it and they will come bears fruit.
And the added ingredient of a competition that is more exciting as a spectacle and in most cases more competitive.
I'll bet my bippy adding an 18 team will provide further impetus to a code we now should be all be proud of(despite the odd lapses due to human nature).

The Bulldogs wanted to play out of Liverpool. The Tigers could also play half their games there and the other half at the SFS.

Dogs will get a new stadium at belmore

Gus will get it sorted that’s the ideal site

they do still own the land at Liverpool but it’s pushing to build a 20k stadia there

You’re going to some marquee rugby league games

good stuff buddy
Thanks Mate.
We do try to attend as many games as we can. We're all nuts about Rugby League, we talk about it all day, we even talk about it in our sleep hehe...on top of that we all support different teams, but these days we watch anyone. We're also going to magic round, three days of Rugby League can't wait...❤

Bulldogs and tigers really need to come together and build a new 20-25k stadium in Liverpool to share between themselves and maybe a A-league side.

Belmore is losing half the hill to their new CoE, the dream of Belmore being done up is dead mate.
There’s a park next door

they could do something there and with the leagues club around the corner it’s ideal for them

The first attempt at building Oasis in Liverpool fell over when it was incorrectly alleged that Eddie Obeid was looking for a $1M earner to get government funding and approval. He later got $162 K in a defamation payout.
The second attempt did not get too far at all

Bulldogs, Wests Tigers & Macarthur Bulls all agreeing to play the majority of their games at one venue (you would want the Easter matches to remain at Homebush) would possibly be enough to justify a stadium, especially if it's more of a CBus Stadium than a CommBank Stadium or AAMI Park.

Having only a single tier significantly reduces costs for the build and you can fit roughly 25K in a build like that without compromising too much.
