The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

Bit misleading with the Lion's figure considering they've only played 2 games at the Gabba and you include a neutral game they played in regional Adelaide. Should drop a little from the Gabba average of 31,806 with us playing Fremantle this weekend who aren't really a big draw.

Before I get the hate messages about "fumble ball" and "AFL", I'll put it out there that yes I'm a Lions member first and foremost, but I'm also a Cowboys member and grew up in Toowoomba so I've always had a soft spot for League. Yes, shocking I know someone can support teams in both codes. I've been a long-time reader of LU but I never post solely due to the amount of abuse AFL watchers get. I honestly don't get why more people can't respect each code to their own.

Alright back to the point I wanted to make, I went to my first game in Townsville with my half-brother (who's why I support the Cows) on the weekend, and the atmosphere was electric. It really is an amazing stadium and for any Cows fans who haven't made the pilgrimage North it's worth it. Heading to Magic Round with a group of mates for the third year in a row next week and I can't wait. Having been to both Magic and Gather now, it certainly is a lot more convenient that all the games are held in one venue. Gather felt more like a holiday and Magic normally feels more like a festival if that makes sense. That's just my POV. The NRL crowds have been electric this year though so I can't wait to feel the ground rumble at Suncorp next weekend. Next on my NRL Bucket List though is a Suncorp State of Origin. Up the Cows
Mate, they chose to take the home game to Adelaide for Magic Round, so suck it up. They didn't have to do that

Lions were listed as the home team for that game
Pretty sure that unlike the NRL where teams choose to take home games to magic round, in the AFL, apart from the Adelaide teams, the "home" team was decided by coin toss and the only consequence was who got to use the home sheds.

Either way, if you are going to do a Brisbane home crowd comparison across sports, one would think you would restrict it to games actually played in Brisbane.

Listed home teams are irrelevant for Gather Round - decided by the toss of a coin last Wednesday (literally). Unlike Magic Round which is embedded into existing fixture and requires NRL clubs to give up a game, AFL simply added a neutral round. None of the crowds count toward H/A averages.

The Broncos are shifting about 500-1000 tickets a day (even with the southerly showers). The rain is expected to continue, which is shit. I think we will get anywhere from 37-41k depending on the Friday morning weather.

I’m sure this will receive some negative comments but shouldn’t Brisbane get 40,000 every week to games? They often complain about Sydney crowds but if there are 4 games in Sydney and they get 10,000 they are up in arms. It’s the same amount. Dolphins 22,000 against another QLD team was a joke considering that was the only game in Brisbane that weekend.

Warriors have almost sold out East and West grandstands. Around where they were for the Cowboys game on the actual gameday, which ended up getting 23,695. Unless there's a huge difference with how the south stand is selling, which is possible with rain forecast and the south stand being uncovered. Hope to see the south stand sold by Saturday and the North bank opened up. Give the 26k Tigers game a shake.

With form like this and better priced tickets we probably could get 40,000 to most games on Friday - Sunday.

I agree, the dolphins v titans crowd was disappointing. When you take into the account that people have been saying for years that a game every weekend at Suncorp would get 30k plus.

Was at yesterdays game, and when people buy tickets it means bums on seats, but for some damn reason alot people prefer standing up and watching games...if they all sat down then you won't see empty seats simple..
