Looking at the crowd, and photos, videos of the weekend, I can see it stay in Brisbane for a while. I'm super keen to go up next year.

I think Newcastle should host it since we missed out this year. Would be a great too our economy.

Other place I think it could work is Townsville. They would really get behind it.

Neither Newy or Townsville have enough accomodation to cater for a heap of travelling fans. And neither stadium has a capacity big enough to make it worthwhile. Every game over the weekend was over 30k.

NRL crowd prediction.

Melbourne v Brisbane 15k
Canterbury v New Zealand 14k
Penrith v Sydney 20k - Game down to single tickets
Souths v Wests 23k -Souths form team+ Tigers last 2 wins, could be much more.
North Queensland v St George 18k
Canberra v Parramatta 17k - Parra one of the Raiders larger drawing crowd teams.
Newcastle v Gold Coast 17k
Manly v Cronulla 12k

Total 136k average 17k

The best round in 115 years. No one acknowledges it but everyone on this thread wants to pull it apart by sending it to cities that either have small stadiums or small NRL followings.
Spot on mate.
why would you want to downsize a very very popular & successful concept.
its mind boggling some of the ideas getting thrown around In here.

It was a special circumstance but this must be the first time in many years that the NRL round (>355k in 8 games) outdrew the AFL round (283,580 in 9 games)
Depending on how you calculate the attendance which is an ongoing debate
The accepted method by the main data agencies
Rugby league Tables
Austadiums
Sports Industry

is total attendance
not total attendance per game per day

so
147,095

IMO no other location ticks as many boxes as Brisbane does for Magic Round.

Everywhere else you are compromising on something, whether it be the venue capacity & sightlines, transport, surrounding facilities, accomodation capacity, weather, timezones or local RL audience to complement the travellers.

Sure Sydney can tick a number of those boxes, but you either forfeit about 30K holding it at Allianz or have it at Accor, which won't sellout, is far from a lot of accommodation and is pretty much dead outside of the ground, and play it in colder conditions.

I'm not here to argue with anyone.
But you can't have a opinion anymore without being blasted for it..
All I said was why not try it somewhere else since magic is so popular now. Thanks to Pommy Rugby League ❤

You don't fix something when it aint broken , or change it when its working.
The only driver to a change is financial & even thats not the only determining factor

See the previous page LU: has it at 354,313 which, on past performance, is how the complier of NRL tables will record it. We will see what Wookie thinks

I hope the NRL, when they open bidding for the future Magic Rounds, use it as leverage to get further investment into Suncorp Stadium.

The ground is solid, but some extra capacity & continued refurbishment would never go astray.

May be too soon but, using the NRL tables figures and if we accept last weekend at 354K, the total for the first 80 games is 1,729,264 @ 21,615
To break the 2012 H&A aggregate record of 3,153,142 in the remaining 124 games requires an average of 11,482 per game
To break the 2005 H&A average record of 16,468 we need an extra 1,630,208 at an average of 13,146 per game

If we take the lower figure of 147,095 (which I accept Annersley announced yesterday) the figures are;
Aggregate record requires an average of 13,154
Average record requires an average of 14,817

those weird gaps on the top tier at the ends need to be seated in , would push capacity to near 60K
