2023 Grand Final Panthers vs Broncos

Penrith have now won 8 straight finals. Not only is it the longest streak of consecutive finals wins in the NRL era, it is also the equal 2nd longest finals winning streak in Australian first grade history.

Tied with Penrith are 2 Souths streaks (1926-29, 1953-56), Balmain (1946-48) and St George (1963-66). Their win against the Warriors a fortnight ago broke a tie with the 2018-19 Roosters for longest finals winning streak in the NRL era. Win the Grand Final next week and they will take sole possession of 2nd place in all time history, only 1 win behind St George (10 straight, 1958-62).

And even more amazing, they have only conceded 66 points in those 8 finals games, for an average of 8.25 per game.

Proving the axiom that defence wins championships!

Interested to see the bench we take into the GF.

Smith and Leniu are no brainers

Cogger I think needs to be there in case Luai’s shoulder pops out again

I thought Garner was poor last start so maybe Hosking takes the final spot

Peachey 18th man would be a nice reward for a solid season

14. Cogger
15. Smith
16. Leniu
17. Hosking

18. Peachey

I would love to see Cleary, Luai and Cogger, on at the same time.

Seriously though, Broncos were too quick and mobile for the Wahs which pulled them apart, we won’t have that problem. Too many offloads, I don’t think we will let that happen. Our defence speaks for itself and will frustrate the Broncos into error. They play with a lot of risk and luck which has paid off for them. I think we will bring that to an end.

Judging last night's game the broncos don't look particularly comfortable in the grind which is weird considering their forward pack is elite. A few sets back and forward seems to frustrate them into offloads and trying to make something happen. I'd say just keeping the ball in play for long periods will be all you need.

I think they had to take full advantage of the Warriors "travel legs", 3rd away game in a month.
Warriors scored 3 tries, denied another and Curran knocks on with the line wide open.
May not have won, but were courageous .
