5. Cowboys
6. Bulldogs
7. Eels
8. Knights

13. Dragons
14. Titans

I love the lazy rhetoric that the Eels 'window has closed' and they will be much worse this year because they lost a few players.
Their forward depth is better and they have become one of the best development of talent clubs in the competition. I mean the reason most pundits are predicting their capitulation this year is because they lost two players, which no other club wanted a few years ago, then developed those players over the past few years. So there is the chance the players they have brought in will actually significantly improve (if they have the motivation)

Now I am not saying they will finish top four or anything, but it WON'T be because they lost a few players.

They havent lost 2 players, the following were in their 17 for the majority of the year:

Papalli
Mahoney
Kaufusi
Niukore
Opacic
N Brown (rumoured to be leaving)

+ backup like Perham etc and have replaced them with perenial bench/nsw cup players

The lower grades havent perfomed well with Flegg & Ball missing the finals, reserve grade and Harold Matts snuck in and went out week 1 which is very poor for a club with a junior league of its size.

As I said I cant imagine a team with a nucleas of Gutherson, Sivo, Brown, Moses, Matterson, RCG and Paulo will lose more then it wins but I'll be fairly suprised if they can match it with Penrith, Roosters, Souths etc in 2023.

Here goes, can't wait to be hopelessly wrong in September

1. Roosters
2. Rabbitohs
3. Panthers
4. Storm
5. Sharks
6. Cowboys

7 - 11. Any of Eels, Bulldogs, Broncos, Raiders, Tigers

12. Sea Eagles
13. Dolphins
14. Knights
15. Titans
16. Warriors
17. Dragons

Think top and bottom 4's pick themselves, the rest is a lottery

I think people are overestimating the ‘Bennett factor’. It’s not that effective when he doesn’t have 15 Rep players in his squad.

Good with the siege mentality though.

Definately not in the 8 but 9-12 for mine. Maybe teetering on 13-15.

Best development clubs in the game? Next thing you'll be telling us that technically Moses and Gutho are Parra juniors.

I’m happy to do a side bet with anyone who thinks the Dolphins won’t come bottom 4. Dead serious and happy to bet decent money.

They will stink… PM me if interested

Arthur is no messiah but he has proven to be able to turn average/fringe first graders into good footballers.

Papali’i was a benchie at the Warriors signed on minimum
Mahoney was a reject dogs lower grader
Opacic fringe first grader at Cows/Broncs
Niukore was a Warriors 20s player
N Brown hothead fringe first grader at Souths

All leaving now as proven first graders.

Lane, Gutho, Sivo were all nobodies when Arthur signed them as well

Not disputing that we have lost a lot of guys from our top 17 but I think the crew of guys they have bought into replace them have very similar profiles. Arthur will get them to do a job.

Hodgson is the key and it’s going to go one of two ways, he will slot in seamlessly and give us a whole new attacking dimension OR he is going to completely stunt our attack and make us look like lost puppies.

Our juniors have been underwhelming for a number of years but they have been getting that sorted in the background, don’t worry we have some good kids coming through for Manly to steal as usual.

He's good at motivating underdog squads in the short-term (see his success with the Kiwis in the 2008 WC and his more recent efforts at Origin) but over the course of a season I tend to agree with your sentiment.

Lane was playing great footy at Manly before he left, a standout in an underperforming team at the time. Gutho was let go because of a series of injuries and Turbo was the preferred option, he killed it in u20s origin and was chased by rugby and AFL clubs when he signed with Manly around that time.

Ironic that you'd be talking about Manly stealing your juniors when your best player and captain is a Cromer junior who played all his junior footy and debuted for Manly.

He still had great players in these sides though. They were underdogs for sure but had some top players.

The Dolphins have some over the hill Melbourne players and not much else. I doubt any coach could do much with this squad let alone someone overrated like Bennett.

Spare me…. Lane played about 3 good games for Manly, if he was such a star you would of re-signed him, his first deal at Parra was worth bugger all.

We saved Gutho after you kicked him to the kerb after he did he knee… hardly poaching.

Manly has raided our juniors for years to survive. Off the top of my head in your first grade squad right now, Schuster, Aloiai, Olokuatu, Keppie, Tuipolotu, Saab all Parra juniors.

I see you didn't watch Lane play before he arrived at Parra. I didn't say Gutho was poached, in fact I said the opposite, Manly let him go because they had a better option at fullback. What I did say was that he was a very highly rated player at the time he moved. Arthur hardly developed him from plodder to fringe origin player.

Probably going to regret doing this right before proper trials are played but

1. Storm
2. Panthers
3. Roosters
4. Souths
5. Sharks
6. Cowboys
7. Broncos
8. Dogs

9. Eels
10. Raiders
11. Manly
12. Tigers
13. Knights
14. Warriors
15. Titans
16. Dolphins
17. Dragons

Notes
- Dogs biggest riser
- Eels/Dragons biggest drops
- I wouldn't be surprised if my team (Knights) came anywhere 10th - 17th. Actually all of 11 - 17th feels like a crapshoot
- Despite being shit Dragons usually manage to beat the other shit teams so probably not the best spoon choice but it'd be funny
