The Game 2023 NRL draw

I don't think Concord Oval would be viable for them. With the renovations that Canada Bay Council have embarked on, its seating capacity would have been greatly reduced based on what I've read here -

It would be like trying to play a full blown NRL match at Redfern Oval as it currently is.

Thanks, i thought as much and the link you posted makes it a lot clearer of the capacity from the diagram at the top than anything i could find on the West Tigers site. A shame they couldn't make a nice boutique stadium to go along with the centre of excellence which could have hosted some NRL games but cost would have prohibited it and also the council keeping it as open space and community sports precinct.

Couple of points about this article.

There definitely has been a pre season comp post 1981!

And the AFL Nab Cup is now a nothing burger, with no real final etc anymore
Yep two glaring errors there, Tooheys Challenge last contested 1995 (if you count Nines, then we had a pre-season tournament in 2020), and AFL's last pre-season tournament was 2013, now it's just two lots of practice games similar to the existing NRL format, under a sponsored banner (not NAB anymore)

After such a long post season surely a longer pre season and more games (even if only half serious) is the last thing 2023 needs.

Who writes this stuff? The AFL has not had a pre-season competition since 2013. In fact that are cutting practice matches back to one to allow for an extra (magic) round.

Surely a Nines tournament would be the best solution for fans, clubs and TV?

teams are going to play trials anyway, The problem is no space to have more than the 2 a side currently plays

The 2 trials is a given obviously.

I'm saying if they pay extra games one Nines tournament would be the way to go.

Manly is part of Sydney, are you suggesting they represent Sydney? Its yet to be seen if the non geographically specific Dolphins are going to attract a Brisbane audience with 7 games at Suncorp. Time will tell. Lets hope so for everyone's sake.
Anyone who lives in Redcliffle would tell an over seas visitor with little knowledge of Aust they live in Brisbane if said visitor asked , I live in Belconnen but answer that question when its asked of me , I live in Canberra

end of discussion clown ...

that is so irrelevant its funny lol.
The question isn't what people in Redcliffe tell overseas visitors, its will people across the Brisbane metro get behind the (lol) Dolphins for 7 games a year?

Wrong, Belconnen has always been part of Canberra, Redcliffe has NEVER been part of Brisbane. I tell people from overseas 'I grew up in Redcliffe, which is just north of Brisbane' - not I'm from Brisbane that's a different city. Obviously you don't know people from Redcliffe! Just like people from Ipswich and Toowoomba are from those cities and not Brisbane. Don't ever call someone from Redcliffe a Brisbanite!! Just because you are explaining to people who are geographically challenged doesn't change the fact.

you seem to be missing the point, shocking I know lol. Its not if people from Redcliffe associate with them and follow them, that should a given. Its if anyone else across Brisbane will.
