The Raiders finally benefitting from the cold weather in June & the fact GIO is just not up to scratch considering , so the womens soccer world cup won't impact us. But it is a little embarrassing & shows what FA & FIFA thinks of our sub standard stadium.
Good job Barr you clown.

As for the rest , its what it is , we've known our sport could be impacted as soon as the bid was won so these stupid negative stories by drunkie pants are to be taken with a grain of salt. Its not the big issue its being made out to be.
Roosters a few games at the SCG
Storm a few at Marvel
Broncos a few at the Gabba

It'll be fine.
If it wasn't shared with nz Canberra (and possibly newcastle and Townsville) would have got games

No matter how much you champion for that soulless pit at Homebush, it's not happening. Lee H is on interview saying the "return to traditional grounds" is paramount and only this women's world cup debacle denied it happening this year.
But chairman Lee doesn't own the club
And isn't looking at paying upwards of $9 million a year in annual grants

Six rounds impacted by Origin will account for 30 of the 51 byes throughout 2023 - the three pre-Origin rounds will have five games, seven byes; the three post-Origin rounds will feature seven games, three byes.

No Friday 6pm games during those six rounds.

Rounds immediately prior to State of Origin matches
  • Thursday night 7:50pm
  • Friday night 7:55pm
  • Saturday afternoon 5:30pm
  • Saturday night 7:35pm
  • Sunday 4:05pm
Rounds immediately after State of Origin matches
  • Friday night 7:55pm
  • Saturday 3:00pm
  • Saturday 5.30pm
  • Saturday 7.30pm
  • Sunday 2:00pm
  • Sunday 4:05pm
  • Sunday 6:15pm
All other Rounds will feature eight games with one bye.

So 4 teams will get the advantage of 2 byes pre origin, and 4 teams will only get 1 across the 6 rounds pre and post origin. Guessing that's not getting spread around over the years, and certain teams will always get the advantage

So the broncos get 5 out of first 6 at home. The other end of their draw doesn’t look great.

why the f**k are they putting the NQ Brisbane game at 3pm on a saturday in Tvl?

f**king idiots.

I noticed that they are playing the Dolphins on a Saturday night as well. I’m assuming that will be shown on Nine otherwise after all this jostling for another Brisbane side and then not playing them on FTA would be curious

Is there some sort of conspiracy in the NRL to make the Raiders play in Townsville in the first few rounds every year.

I mean would it kill them to at least change it so they play us down here for once. That way the team from the least humid region isn't playing in NQ during the hottest and most humid part of the year, and the team from the warmest region isn't playing in Canberra during the coldest part of the year, and the quality of the games won't be compromised as a result.
Totally agree but then I wonder whether NQ asks for home games early to take advantage of the opposition discomfort in the conditions. Only way I can see makes sense.

Qld pretty much are an NFL conference. All 4 will play each other twice accounting for close to a Quarter of their draw each year.

Which I think makes very little sense because teams have just come out of summer off season and let’s face it it’s hot everywhere usually.

RUMOUR:

Tigers vs Panthers in Bathurst Round 9. For me that would be an amazing weekend getaway.

And hopefully tomorrow the talked about NZ game will be confirmed.

---------------------------

That Broncos schedule is very interesting. Suncorp not getting the 2 Dolphins games is interesting when just one week prior, Broncos play Gold Coast. I think the city would prefer Broncos/Dolphins at Suncorp over the Gabba.

I don't think NQ goes out of their way to ask for home games early, they just ask for the QLD teams and the Storm to be up in NQ along with a couple of the weekends where there are events on (Laurie Spina shield) so they can maximise the crowd. They actually run the risk of shit gate takings when they have home games early in the season as the weather can be extremely unpredictable.

I know they used to ask to NOT have a home game on the Tvl Cup weekend, I remember in '04 we had a home game vs the Dragons the same day and it was carnage in the crowds. Peeps being on the champers and rums all day, throw in a game of footy at 7:30pm and you know how it all ends.....
